  1. I take 25 mg of Atenolol daily. It has helped considerably keeping my heart rate down. I had fatigue when when I first started on it but it did get better the longer I was on it. I also take Topamax and Wellbutrin XL. I think adding the Wellbutrin XL has increased my energy level; possibly each of the medications I take balances the side effects of the others out...
  2. I have nerve pain. I have autonomic dysfunction, small fiber neuropathy, and inguinal complex regional pain syndrome, type II. I have tried several medications including Neuronton and Lyricia and did not have favorable results with either. I am currently taking Topamax, Wellbutrin XL, and Atenolol; I have finally gotten some relief. On bad days when my pain level is high I also take Ultram. The nice thing about the Topamax is that is has helped with my migranes too.
  3. Wellbutrin XL, 300 mg works well for me. I take it in addition to Topamax and Atenolol.
  4. I take a beta blocker to keep my heart rate down - for me, it is working well. The first one I was put on was Lopressor (Metoprolol). I took that for a few months but developed a chronic cough so now I have been switched to Atenolol to see how I do on that. When I first started taking it I was very tired - it took several weeks for my body to adjust.
  5. I was diagnosed with autonomic dysfunction, small fiber neuropathy, complex regional pain syndrome and mild POTS in January; I was told possibly some genetics involved but I also believe a series of necessary pelvic surgeries caused severe nerve damage. I have had pain, numbness and tingling, burning sensations, and a multitude of other symptoms for years. I have been to a variety of doctors in every specialty there is. I've tried all sorts of medications, including Lyrica and Neurontin. It wasn?t until I found an ANS specialist this January and was finally properly diagnosed that I had been finding some relief from some of the symptoms. My ANS (neurologist) has me taking Topamax (50 mg twice a day). He had tried to go higher with the dose but I had memory and concentration problems at higher doses. The current dose of Topamax (I've been on it since March) is helping with my neuropathy symptoms. I take Atenalol for tachycardia, Ultram for pain, and a few other medications for allergies and asthma. I also take some vitamins and nutritional supplements. It is amazing what a proper diagnosis and the right medications can do. Not all medications work the same for individuals - it can be trial and error to find out what works for you - talk to your doctor and see what options are available to you. I hope you find relief too.
  6. I'm taking Ultram because I have a surgical procedure that I am putting off - I need something to take the edge off the pain until I decide to have the surgery. I have stronger pain medication I can take for really high pain level days. I take Topamax for my neuropathic pain. Having another surgery is not somethng someone with autonomic dysfunction look forward too.
  7. My prescription for Ultram is 50 mg up to 3x a day as needed for pain. It does not eliminate my pain but takes the ege off so my pain is tolerable. I have not heard of it being used to alter the mood or emotions - I sometimes feel tired after I take it.
  8. I have small fiber neuropathy as part of my autonomic disorder. My neurologist prescribed Topamax about 8 months ago and it has helped tremedously with the pain, weakness, numbness, and tingling. I had previously tried Neurontin and Lyrica with no results. The neurologist also suggested I take 3,000 mg of Acetyl-L-Carnitine daily which really helps with the fatigue.
