  1. I had all four wisdom teeth out (messy extraction- they were impacted) under general anesthesia. My advice would be to get a very good surgeon, and be upfront about your concerns. I'd never been put under before and was very nervous, but seem to have suffered no ill effects. I was feeling great within 10 days, waited a bit longer to eat crunchy things. Don't use straws, don't smoke.
  2. Before I found out I had POTS, I was placed on Adderall for ADHD (it was probably POTS all along). It was very effective at cutting through brain fog, at least for me. Made me a little high-strung though.
  3. Hi! My name is Margaret, and I've been a lurker here for probably 5-6 years now, off and on. The website was a bit different then. You guys helped me get a POTS diagnosis the very first time I went to the doctor. No 'It's all in your head', or 'It's anxiety' for me. I was 23 and had prepared myself to fight with the school clinic about it. Initially the Dr. told me I was fine, after taking my pulse on each wrist and determining they were the same- but I was stubborn back then and asked him to just please take it standing up. BAM 140 and a referral to a cardiologist. It helped that my degree is in Neuroscience, so I can pretend I know what I'm talking about ( ). Anyway, I went to the cardiologist and got the diagnosis- no TTT required. Had the test that looks like it measures earthquakes- is that an EKG? Doctor told me to eat more salt, drink more water, and have a baby and I should be just fine. I know, right? Things were going okay for a few years. I was almost free of debilitating symptoms (to this day I haven't ever passed out). I backpacked across Asia (and India in March, holy hot weather, batman!). But for the most part, I was okay. Then I started getting severe anxiety, daily- it's almost to the point of panic disorder. I've been having visual disturbances, and palpitations (which I'd never had before). I get hives on my neck and ears every night at midnight (it has to be hormones) and without fail every month during my time of the month for the past six months I have called or attended urgent care (no insurance). My doctor I'm sure thinks it's just anxiety- he wants me to get therapy (so do I!). I tried celexa for 6 months last year, and that's when the panic really started getting bad. My symptoms of POTS diminished, but every night I would have a panic attack 40min after taking it. Anyway, I've moved to a warmer place now, and my symptoms are getting worse. It's been real feel >100 for ten days now, and I can barely leave the house after 9am (no car). I'm heading back to school in three weeks for a professional degree, and I'm worried that I won't be able to handle it. I finally get insurance on Aug 1, and I have an appt on the 3rd with a university clinic doctor (endocrinologist). I have to switch over to this system due to insurance. I have an appt with a doctor mid-month that specializes in POTS (neurologist). Luckily my college has one of the best medical schools in the country attached to it. If anyone has read this far, this is the help that I need. What tests can I get? How do I ask for them? How to I get them to want to run expensive labs on me? Won't they just think it's anxiety too? I think that I might have hyperadrenergic- I shake all the time and my bp goes up and not down upon standing. I also have hyperlax joints (diagnosed by a sports medicine doctor). How can I ask for catecholamines and EDS testing too? And what do I ask for? I want to recondition my body, but I need to know what's going on first- I don't want to hurt myself exercising. Thank you for reading, and THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart, for being here the last time I needed you. You have already helped me so so much.
