  1. I went to my doctor today and the first thing he wants to do is an ECG to see if my heart is in good health... Then after that we take the results and go from there, I'll ask him about a tilt table test afterwards..... Thank you all for your input... Muchly appreciated!
  2. So are you just waiting for the results??? What tests have you taken, and have the doctors give any insight into what could possibly be causing this, because I really am getting worried.
  3. first of all.... Steven, generally speaking, dysautonomia is life altering and difficult, but not fatal. There are, however, some exceptions. I don't know if that was supposed to make me feel bettter or not but it really didn't, I'm paranoid mostly about why this is happening and the fact that some exceptions are eventually fatal freaks me out even more, especially when what I have isn't very common (on this board anyways) and what I have could very well be the type that turns out to be fatal. What other symptoms do you get steve? and do you feel it everyday all day? What do you eat? Do you excersice? and Do you do ordianry things when you can? I have woken up once before with that feeling, but that was it (maybe just the beginning of this happening a lot more) I don't feel it all day everyday, because some days I don't feel it at all and I can go a while without it and sometimes I'll have it without it going away for a long while. I'm eating between 1500-2000 calories and have been exercising (trying to lose some weight). And usually I can do ordinary things without it bothering me, sometimes it will bother me while exercising but not often, and it basically only bothers me when standing up from sitting. Oh and another symptom that I don't think I listed was graying of the vision when standing although it hasn't bothered me in quite sometime now. I still can't believe you get the slow heartbeat when you yawn, I never mentioned that because I didn't think it was a common symptom at all.
  4. I can't believe you get it while you yawn because the EXACT same thing happens to me to, when I yawn it feels like my heart starts to pound slower and harder then slowly it goes back to normal. I think it would be better to talk about it on here becauase I rarely use my msn messenger. I'm so glad there is someone else with the same thing, I really want to know whats going on, and better yet how it could happen when yawning!?!? I want to talk to my doctor about it, but he will likely just brush it off like it's nothing, as usual. Do you think anxiety can cuase this because I have HIGH anxiety some times, mostly worrying about this, whatever I have is really making me have even more anxiety, and I frequently worry about it. ALL I WANT IS AN EXPLANATION, how can you not be worried when no one has any idea what the **** is going on? this is making me so unbelievably frustrated.
  5. I haven't been officially diagnosed with pots, but I think I have something along the lines of it. One reason I haven't been officially diagnosed is because my doctor says what I get is a normal reaction to standing (before I said anything about heart beating slow). Anyways, my symptoms are strong heartbeats felt in head when rising that sometimes causes headaches, strong slow heartbeats for about 20-30 seconds when rising then the heartbeat slowly goes faster and faster, and sometimes lightheadedness, palpitations, shortness of breathe. Has anyone experienced slow strong heartbeats because when I get them for that 30or so seconds I can feel the slow strong heartbeat in my chest and head. Does this sound at all normal? I'm worried I have some heart problem, and I really don't know if my doctor will take this seriously, because I have been to him so many times about headaches (which I presume are from this, I even had a ct scan) And I know I have asked this before but this is really worrying me, especially since I started working out again. Any help would be appreciated!
  6. not much has changed since my last post.... But I've got a couple questions that I need answers to just to keep me sane until I do see my doctor again... 1. I've heard that with POTS your heartbeat usually beats fast, but with me it seems like its beats really hard and slow for like 5 seconds and then starts beating faster, Is this normal? 2. Is head pain usually associated with POTS because the slow pounding that I feel in my chest, I also feel in my head. 3. For the longest time I've wondered whats wrong with my legs, because whenever I get out of the shower they don't look right, they look white with red splotches covering them, which dissappear after a while.... Could this be caused by pots because I heard POTS can cause blood pooling. Any help would be great... Thanks again guys.
  7. I am going to go to my doctor on monday and see if I can get a referal or anything and I'm going to insist on it because i'm not going to let him tell me it's nothing to worry about. Because it is and if he can't realise this then I'll go find a doctor who can. The symptoms got better, until last night when I felt this pounding in my head while sleeping after turning over on to my side, and thats never happened before, ever... Only when I stand up it happened and I obviously wasn't standing in my sleep so now this is really scaring me and I just want it delt with. I'll update you guys on monday to tell you whats happening
  8. The only problem is, in my city it's impossible to find a new doctor because there is a huge shortage and basically non are taking new patients... So what should i do?
  9. The thing is I ddi go see my doctor and he said it was normal to experience this when standing.I'm not a doctor and even I know this is not normal. I guess Ill go see him again. Thanks guys
  10. I believe I have had pots symptoms for about 2 years and it has been worse some times than others and it's gotten pretty bad. I'm a 17 year old male and I believe I have high blood pressure, but I'm not sure because I always get nervous going into the doctors office and my BP always goes up. I had a symptom that was pretty bad today. I got up off the bed to stand up and my head felt heavy, and my pulse began to slow down and seemed like it was thumping hard in my head, then my heart rate began very rapid. But when it was thumping in my head it seemed to get worse with deep breaths and I feel like I couldn't catch my breathe. This is the symptom I've been having mostly lately. otherwise I just feel lightheaded and my vision darkens while my heart beats very fast. Does this sound like high blood pressure? because I am overweight and the thing is I think this started while I was losing weight off of atkins, I lost weight pretty fast (40 pounds in 3 months) and that's when it seemed the worse. I quit atkins, scared to continue. But recently started up again and within 3 days the symptoms are coming back. I think if I losed the weight it would help, but i'm scared to do anything like exercising because I'm somethings going to explode in my head. And now looking at the front page of the pots website I scared myself reading so much stuff, likethis can be caused by total atonomic atrophy (something like that) And I'm worried that this could be caused by somethingthat could kill me. I know how paranoid I sound but this is ruining my life! Anyone have some input?
  11. Thank you all for the reassurance and the help with this. I just get so bent out of shape over this because I thought something had to seriously be wrong, but you've all reassured me. I will be talking to my doctor about this and see what he can do. But your replies have stopped me from going crazy, so thank you all!
  12. Ok, I'm sure I have POTS, because for the past couple years when I stand up from sitting down I get light-headed, my heart beat really fast and my vision goes very dark for a second or two. But for the last year or so I notice that when I stand up I've been getting a new symptom which is a pounding headache, I feel a lot of pressure in my head and I can feel my heart beating from my chest up into my head and it's been really worrying me lately. I went to the doctor and explained to him all my symptoms, but he kept telling me it was normal, but I knew it wasn't because not a lot of people I know has this happen to them. I've had a ct scan of the head so I know it's not caused by a tumor or anything and I was told that I don't have signs of increased intracranial pressure so thats good. I just wanna know if this is normal or if anyone has had this symptom with their case of pots because it has been worrying me more and more. Is there need to worry? Thanks in advance!
