  1. Propranalol was a no go, doc wants me to try nadalol. Im ready to start lifestyle changes.. Exercise, salt, fluids and compression stockings. Maybe then add meds. Is that unreasonable? Does anyone have success with lifestyle measures only? I haven't been given a subtype or anyinterest in testing. Given my plan and told to follow up in a month.
  2. Doc visit today? A wash! I asked about subtypes. No go for tests. Given the standard pots lifestyle protocol and given a script for nadalol. I'm going to wait on that.
  3. Im a newby too. Welcome. So many opinions and stories here, glad I found this forum. Mine I feel had been looming for at least a year.. Crashed hard oct 5th ill never forget it. Haven't been to work/ grocery store/ kids school events since. Starting lifestyle changes. Dabbling with meds.
  4. Was manual bp by doc. Smallest dose. The doc in call said discontinue after the 2 doses. Scary to discontinue scary to think about taking it again. Yesterday my Bp was running about 120/80 all day off the med felt better. Few spikes in hr. nothing over 130. That day I took the meds it was spiking well over 150 and I didn't feel well
  5. I'm finding a ride down the road is too far somedays
  6. Guys! Thanks! Great thoughts. Thorough explanations! I meet with cardiologist tomorrow and will ask about labs. Ive only had cortisol drawn and 24 hr urine sodium results pending. Need to hear from a hyper now. would love to pursue testing. Closest is a plane ride or 2 days or more of driving. I live in Montana.
  7. Haven't done a hospital stay. I could see how itd be frustrating and beneficial. My thought today is I think I started too many things at one time. Diet/ exercise/ meds/etc. all started Friday.
  8. I've read about subtypes? Do you guys have a subtype? Is there more specific testing to determine it? I see treatment plans can vary between the subtypes. I only had the tilt table test. Closest autonomic clinic is states away.
  9. I experience it. Comes with tremors. Haven't experienced as many lately. I think that's due to reducing my stress and knowing that it is a symptom of pots.
  10. Thanks for your reply. Glad you found something that works. How long did you give the other meds? Vision is better today. Blurry but not like yesterday's episodes.
  11. Put a call in to cardiologist. I'm their first pots patient... So I feel like I call a lot.. Don't get a lot of phone calls back. Feel like i wait for my face to face visits.Haven't taken today's dose. My hr hasn't been over 115. Which is a good pots day. Ah trial and error. I noticed my heart rate was lower all day overall... My husband asked do you feel better? The best answer I could come up with was to compare it to having bronchitis... You take cough meds to suppress the cough but you still know its there and still have other symptoms. Scared about stopping/ starting meds.
  12. Low dose of propranalol. First I noticed my peripheral vision was gone r side only, then it seemed to to be distorted like 3d. I've never had this happen before...I found it out that it happened when i started the med.was unlike when i stand up and get lightheaded and dizzy. Only other sx was that I was disoriented.ive stopped driving trying to find drivers for the kids to school... Very hard.
  13. Thanks you guys. North Dakota is the closest. already I feel part of the group. Trial and error phase. Honeymoon phase.. Everyone says "get better soon". "Now we have a plan". How do you handle this 6 yrs in?
  14. Newly diagnosed. Any side effects from beta blocker? I experienced loss of vision twice last 15 min at least and Bp of 142/92.. A first... Normally low. Seen at urgent care. Proud owner of a Bp cuff
  15. Thank you for the warm welcome... I had a gyn surgery in jan and dental surgery in aug... No virus that I can think of. Lots of tests to rule out underlying conditions. Haven't quite felt like myself since Jan..I've always been an active person( wife, mom, employee, student, volunteer). But oct 5th is when it hit me.Ive been off work for a month and had to drop my classes. Is anyone else able to work? Depending on others and not being able to do my norm has been hard. Trying to make little adjustments to cope.
  16. After 6 weeks of displaying symptoms of POTS, my cardiologist ordered a tilt table which I failed. Diagnosed with primary POTS.. No subtype identified. I am a first for many of my doctors here. I'm glad they are reaching out to mayo docs to compile a gameplan. While I know what a blessing a timely diagnosis is, it's also frustrating to start the trial and error phase. I elevated my bed 6 in, increased sodium/ fluids, recumbent bike... Started propranolol today... Not sure if this bad day is par for course or due to meds. I enjoy reading the forum and feel it'll be a great source of support/ comfort in my neck of the woods. Any advice/ hints or stories appreciated.
