  1. I am definitely stuck in the catch 22 cycle with exercise. Skip it and symptoms get worse and I become more deconditioned or do it and feel totally wiped. I now believe I must force myself or it will be a downward spiral. Interesting enough walking and light cardio is okay for me now. Anything with weights, body weight, squats, etc sets my heart rate into over drive. I've started working a personal trainer (I've informed her), and we go slow, but I typically have to sit in my car and rest/cool off 30-45 minutes after sessions before feeling okay to drive. I have found my heart rate just doesn't recover quickly and will still be around 110 (sitting) an hour post workout.
  2. IBS, diarrhea, nausea, bloating, gas, cramping, stomach pains... My gastro doesn't know too much about POTS, but said it is known to cause severe flare-ups in IBS and gastro issues in general. She recommended a low FODMAP diet. I am currently deciding whether to try eliminating gluten and dairy.
  3. I can tell many differences in how I look, but I don't think it is noticeable except to those that really know me. Friends and family say I look tired and notice the dark circles under my eyes. I used to be able to get by with minimal makeup, but now feel I need a good amount to look semi-"normal". When I was diagnosed a few months ago, I got a lot of comments how colorless my face looked. Now I have made some progress, and my face color seems to be flushed in the cheeks most of the time. Sometimes people at work will ask if I have a fever.
  4. This is very helpful! Thank you both so much! I would be traveling from the Southeast, so it is a big decision.
  5. Hi everyone, I am new and have been recently diagnosed with POTS. I am still trying to find answers regarding my other symptoms and the cause of my POTS. I was disappointed to call Mayo in Rochester and hear they are not currently taking any new POTS patients. They said possibly in 2014 and to call back then. I called Mayo in Arizona and they are taking POTS patients. Is the AZ facility worth the long trip and $$$ given it is a smaller facility? I really want a comprehensive evaluation and to see any other specialists at the same time. Thank you for any opinions!
