  1. I have had pots for 10 years, I have tried all kinds of medications but am currently just taking midodrine well maintaining a high sodium diet. Mornings have always been difficult for me, waking up for work is tough, I certainly don't bounce out of bed. I try to shower at night when possible but sometimes it inevitably comes to showering in the morning. Some days are fine, others, like table are horrible. I was starting to wash the conditioner out of my hair when I got overwhelming sense of over heating, very dizzy and nausious, I knew if I didn't stop right away I was going to collapse so I hit the shower off and just sat down for 5 mins (partly dry heaving) I then caught a chill and my husband found me and held me up so I could finish showering and then I tried to continue getting ready for work but I was so dizzy, I knew I could never blow dry and get myself ready feeling like this. He helped me into bed and I slept for another 5 hours and still dizzy and drained all day. Does this happen to anyone else? Any tips..besides the obvious shower at night?
  2. I have a horrible time with stairs, I can do a short flight or a flight or two but my heart does race and I get short of breath. My lovely husband has learned to walk behind me and push my behind as I walk up and be a support as I sometimes get clutzy and take misteps if its a steep flight.
  3. im so guilty of this....I either always have my legs crossed or while sitting at my desk doing hmwk for hours on end i sit on one leg. I have restless legs and really this is the only way im comfortable.
  4. Hello! Im sorry to hear things havent been going to well but hopefully you will get somewhere soon! I have some similiar problems.....I get horrible restless legs not just at night but watching tv at the movies etc. the one thing I have found to help is to elevate my legs, while in bed I put a pillow under them or if im at the movies i try and put them up on the seat in front of me, this usually helps! For the coldness I usually dress in many layers, while I sit at my desk I have a space heater to keep my warm and I drink tons of herbal tea. While outside sometimes its impossible to keep warm but I find that those hand warmers and feet warmers you can buy for outdoor stores really make a huge difference! For the shaking im not to sure what can be done, I get violent shake/shivers throughout the day (my family laughs cause they think I look like Kramer from Senfeild) i really havent found a way to get rid of these I think part of it is from the midodrine. Anways im not sure if any of that will help! but just know that your not alone out there! take care, Alexandra
  5. Thanks for all of your suggestions everyone! I think it helps most to know that I'm not the only one dealing with this, sometimes its just so frusterating and no matter how you explain it to people around you they never quite understand. So its just nice to know im not alone and you guys have given me some great ideas! take care!
  6. I have Pots and as much as a I try and forget I do and just keep going sometimes its impossible. Shopping is my worst nightmare, I get hot and dizzy and get immediate and sometimes uncontrollable urges to go the bathroom and i start sweating and feel faint. My friends look over and wonder what the heck is going on, im so "out of it" I feel like i different person when it comes to any situation that involves a lot of standing like this and its really hard to explain to friends. I take bisoprolol and midodrine and sometimes wear compression stockings, but has anyone experienced this or have found a way to deal with this? -alexandra
  7. Helllo! Im a 20 year old with Pots and currently at the Mayo trying to get some answers, however that is not going so well. Ne ways I am going to Disney World at the end of April and I wanted to suggest for your may trip that if you get a dr.'s note saying you cant stand for long periods of time you can take that to guest services at the entrance of the park and you can get a handicap pass that will allow you and friend to use that line. So instead of waiting with everythign else, you wait in the shade and wait only as long as the handicap line is! there are also scooters available to rent! I hope you have a good trip! goodluck! -alexandra
