  1. Julie, I have several computers sitting around my house. I would be happy to reformat one and get it up and running if you think he would be interested in using one. I may even have an extra monitor floating around here somewhere. We would just need to find a cheap or free internet access for him and some way to get it to him and set up since I am unable to drive.
  2. mornings are definitely bad for me. After 8pm is when I usually feel my best.
  3. I get pounding in my chest, a feeling like my throat is constricting, my lips start to go numb. I can actually feel the blood draining from my upper body, then noises get really muted and my field of vision becomes smaller and smaller. If I don't sit down or squat immediately at this point, I will pass out.
  4. Sorry, I just figured out the PM thing. Thanks
  5. I am getting the following errors on some posts. Specifically the post about crushed fingers and the other is the Grad school post. I can read all the other posts just fine. Any idea why I am getting this error and unable to read those topics? Sorry, an error occurred. If you are unsure on how to use a feature, or don't know why you got this error message, try looking through the help files for more information. The error returned was: Sorry, you are not permitted to use this board
  6. What a horrible situation. What a horrible way for that poor man to die, unable to even get pain meds.
  7. Thanks for all the info. You have all definitely pointed me in the right direction. I appreciate it.
  8. So sorry to hear they canceled on you. I hope you are able to get rescheduled soon and get some relief.
  9. Thanks! I will give oatmeal a shot, it is quick and easy to make.
  10. Do any of you have trouble with high cholesterol? This is a first for me. I had stupidly been under the impression that since I was underweight, my cholesterol wouldn't be an issue. Obviously I was wrong. I will admit, I am clueless when it comes to healthy diets. Does anyone have a recommendations for foods that are good for keeping my cholesterol lower while fitting in with the high protein, high salt diet?
  11. That's great news Kim. Have a safe, productive trip. Dr. G. is awesome.
  12. I can usually tell when I am getting ready to go through a really bad phase. I get a horribly itchy rash on my upper back and back of my scalp. I also get cold sores right before a bad phase.
  13. How exciting! You must be so proud. I'll bet you are ready to burst. I'll be keeping an eye out for this movie as well.
  14. Best of luck to you and your son. There is nothing worse than watching your child having to go through the trials of illnesses.
  15. Thanks everyone for the intros! It's so nice knowing more about everyone. I have been desperate to find a sense of community online, since I rarely get out of the darn house. I think I am really going to enjoy chatting with all of you.
  16. I went out of town at the beginning of the month and took my wheelchair with me. We did tip the customer service guy that wheeled me around.
  17. Welcome back Tearose! It sounds like you and I are pretty much in the same boat. We are both lucky to have hubby's that will assume the income burden. I am very lucky in that regard, hubby never gripes about money or being stuck doing the majority of work around the house. He was a real trooper when it came to learning how to do laundry. Right now we are considering moving if we can find a ranch style home in our area. Living in a split level makes it nearly impossible for me to do much of anything. Anyway....it was very nice to learn more about you and I will try to locate the old thread to learn more about others.
  18. Congrats Linda, I am so glad you have had that additional burden lifted from you.
  19. It's very nice to meet you April. Enjoy that little one. I miss the baby stage so much!
  20. Congrats on the new haircut. I can totally relate to your excitement. I can also relate to the self trims I am about a year overdue for a haircut myself. Have you ever looked at your closet and wondered if your clothes will be out of style before you get to wear them regularly again?
  21. Thanks for sharing Jacquie. It must be awful having to deal with this when you are so young. I have often said that I am grateful that I was able to have my health and energy while my kids were young. My sister also has this, she became symptomatic in high school and I know how difficult it was for her. I hope you are able to get it under control and realize all of your dreams and goals.
  22. Hi all, I have been a member of the forum for awhile now. I appreciate all of the advice that has been given in the past, it is so very helpful. I decided to do this re-intro post because although I recognize screen names, I never really felt that I knew anything about the people behind the names. So here is a glimpse of me My name is Lisa and I am from the Columbus, Ohio area. I am Mom to 3 beautiful kids (daughter aged 21, Son, age 19, daughter 14) I divorced way back in 1991 and was a single Mom, I recently (Dec 27th) got remarried. In addition to my kids, I also am an avid animal lover. We have 6 dogs and 3 cats. Prior to becoming ill, I had run a large catering company for many years. When symptoms started becoming problematic, I took a position with a larger catering company as the assistant to the President and the manager of IT. I got very ill in 2002 and took medical leave for 6 months and then returned to work. I did rather well until fall of 2004, at which time I dropped to part time. In January of 2005 I had to stop working completely and have been pretty much housebound ever since. The hardest part of adjusting to this illness has been the lack of activity. I had always been a very energetic, always on the go type of person. Very much the workaholic. Also the cognitive impairment has been very depressing to me. So anyway, that's a little about me. I hope to get to know all of you a little better.
