  1. Hi Kim, So glad to hear you so upbeat! This is great news. Hey, I know what you mean about not realizing how tense you are. I lived like that most of my life. Yoga has been a godsend for me. I hope you like it. It has really helped me get in touch with myself in every way, and I was pretty skeptical at first. Now I'm a convert and I go to class three times a week. Have fun! Marsha
  2. My hubby didn't get it until I had to ask him to take me to my doctor appts because I became too sick to drive. Then when he saw an actual doctor address my actual symptoms he understood. I was resentful because it took some other man in a white coat to convince him, while I had been in obvious decline for three years! The other posters are right; men need direct information. They have no imagination when it comes to knowing how we feel. Try to have a conversation with him. And hang in there.
  3. Hi Kelly, You are so sweet! I am smiling because 2012 has been a pretty good year. I finally feel like I'm crawling out of the hole. Now if you had taken my picture three years ago.....well that was not a pretty sight by any means. There is hope, even on the worst days, always remember that
  4. Next time try voting early, if at all possible. It saved me literally hours. I really don't think I could have tolerated all the waiting, from today's reports. And the ballot here was really long, so I know what you mean about hoping you voted for the right person!
  5. I am so glad I popped in on this thread. This doesn't really apply to low fiber, but for the last ten days I have been terribly constipated. And then I realized that I had stopped my digestive enzymes about that time. Thought I didn't need them anymore---not! We have such tummy problems as a group and I wouldn't have been on the enzymes in the first place if not for this forum. Thanks for the inadvertent reminder everyone. LOL!
  6. Naomi, I'm so glad you mentioned that. I had been meaning to buy that book and kept putting it off. So I finally just ordered it. Thanks! Marsha
  7. This is what I'm hoping for at my recheck in February. Lately my BP has been rising upon standing instead of the opposite! I'm really happy that you're feeling better and wish you a nice, normal existance LOL.
  8. When I was at my worst, I had every symptom of Addison's except the skin changes. Researching those symptoms led me to this group, thank God. I believe there is some connection as well. Looking back, my adrenals were taking a beating. But since conventional doctors only treat disease states, a patient can be very ill while still having supposedly normal test results.
  9. Hi Farmer Amy, The leaky gut article was a long one but really interesting. I suspected long ago that I had this and since I've been addressing my food allergies I am feeling so much better. Granted, it's not my only problem but it sure does explain a lot. Thanks for posting!
  10. Sheila, Can you afford some temporary care? Maybe you could hire some help to get you over this hump. Having someone else take over for a little while just till you get your bearings, could be a tremendous help. I don't know your situation but I do know that others on this site have done that from time to time. And in my own case, my poor husband did the housework for two entire years. It is important to give the body a respite.
  11. Thanks for all that great info. I have a list of questions ready and waiting for him, mostly to help me better understand my test results etc. I'm doing a lot better lately but this has been such a living **** that I still feel the need for a little hand holding LOL. Plus, I'm still on Florinef and need to see what he wants to do with that. He sounds like a great doctor.
  12. I have been trying to get a follow up with Dr. Fouad for months and they kept telling me her schedule was not available yet for 2013. Hard to believe but today I finally found out why. Apparently she is retiring and Dr. Jaeger is taking over her patients. So, I have an appt with him in February and just wondered if anyone has seen him and what was your experience? I have no doubt that everything will be fine but I always like to read about others' visits so if anybody has any info I would appreciate it. Thank you! Marsha
  13. I totally agree with the comment about finding the right teacher. Yoga has been a godsend for me, but in great part because of my teacher. I have had other ones on occasion and they are good, but she is a perfect fit for me. At this point I feel spoiled and very grateful . And thumbs up on the inversion head rush!
  14. I absolutely improved. Chronic stress was killing me. My story is nearly the same as Yogini's. Now, 2 1/2 yrs after quitting my job I am working again and feel nearly normal. It was a very slow improvement but in that time I have completely changed my lifestyle and attitude. To be fair, I also started a good med regimen but the stress control and rest have been invaluable.
  15. I have read this before and I think it's one of the most comprehensive explanations out there. It totally applies to me. Thanks for sharing because I needed a refresher!
  16. Have you done a search on this site for MCAS? There have been some recent discussions that are really good. My own immunologist won't entertain the idea of MCAS yet because it is not a recognized diagnosis by the mainstream doctors. But I am suspicious that I have it based on symptoms and luckily I'm already on doxepin for fibromyalgia, which also helps treat MCAS.
  17. Keep in mind that you can still be gluten intolerant even though you have negative celiac blood test results. I am. And many people on this forum have MCAS with normal tryptase levels. MCAS has many of the same symptoms as masto. Keep searching for answers because conventional doctors won't.
  18. Congratulations! Thank for sharing the pix, they are lovely. The cake was really neat. Wishing you a very happy life! Marsha
  19. Hi! I had Spectracell testing done in 2010. It was recommended by a holistic osteopath I was seeing at the time for food allergies, and it was very helpful. I was borderline deficient in Vit B12, biotin, serine, glucose-insulin interaction and chromium. My total antioxidant function was deficient - those included glutathione, cysteine, vitamin E, selenium, coenzyme Q10, lipoic acid and vit C. At that point I had not been taking ANY vitamins whatsoever. Now I do take a good quality hypoallergenic multivitamin every day. As far as affecting autonomic function, I really don't know if it does. But I take it anyway because it can't hurt (within reason - no megadosing!). It can take four to six months to see results from oral supplements so hang in there.
  20. Leydengs, I have had out of town company all week and they're still here. But briefly, my results were very interesting and indeed I came up positive for gluten intolerance! Been GF since June and it's been a godsend so far. I also found out that in addition to my other allergies, I am allergic to white potato and oats, both of which I had been eating on a regular basis. Now I can eat them occasionally with no problem. Point being, never assume you're not allergic to something, because I found out the hard way that it's not always true! Thanks for asking! Marsha
  21. We all love pasta and garlic LOL. Trust me, when you see the change in your sympoms, you won't care anymore. I have so many delayed allergies I have lost count. But when I modified my diet I really got better. No more mysterious hives, bloodshot eyes, nausea etc. I am also gluten intolerant and eliminating that helped sooooo much. All this I found out with the IgA testing from Enterolab. They rank the results too, which I love--that has been the most helpful. I had IgE skin prick testing years ago and it was basically worthless. Plus, I never knew I was gluten intolerant until now because my serum results were negative twice. I have discovered foods I never knew existed and it's a good thing. A varied diet is so much better for the body. You can do a four day rotation of some of your allergenic foods and that helps a lot, too. Don't overeat any one thing, either. Plus, try to eat to minimize your immune system load on any one day. That's where the ranking comes in handy. If you google 'multiple food allergies' you will find many helpful links. I did this a few years ago and learned how to cook differently. Now it's no big deal, but I do admit it was hard in the beginning.
  22. I have addressed this with my allergist and he agrees that I very likely have this. I have an endless list of food allergies and leaky gut could explain why. So I take digestive enzymes with every meal and went gluten free in June. In addition to avoiding my known allergens. I am hoping with time the allergies will lessen. Too soon to tell, but I believe leaky gut is a real condition. I have a sweet tooth as well and recently had a hard time kicking a yeast infection, even after monistat and Diflucan. So in desperation I started adding cider vinegar to my drinking water and it worked!! Now I need to knock off the sweets obviously ;(
  23. We all need support with this illness, and no doubt you deserve this. I am very happy for you. And who knows, you may just improve with time, not decline. That is my wish for you.
  24. Hi Dizzy, The doxepin helps to regulate my body temp. Without it I have terrible chills and sweats. My body temp was as low as 94.0 and I was physically shaking. Now during the midday it runs about 97.5. It also eliminated the nausea which kept me from eating. I also think it lessened the severity of my food allergy reactions quite a bit. I tried to d/c it six months ago and those symptoms came back within a week. Never again! Marsha
