  1. I'm not sure about the tests but, I curious. Why are they sending you to europe? If your health is so bad how can they send you out of the country on a really long plane ride? What/Who is in europe to help you?
  2. I definetly think if you have low b12 levels you should try something to get those ups. I think that the whole "b12 is a scam" comment might be more about how some energy drinks advertize how they have TONS of vit b to give you energy. Like someone else said if you take too much b12 you'll pee it out so if you aren't deficient b12 probably wouldn't help much. I take cerefolin and it brought my levels up and gave me some more energy.
  3. I've also heard that to really help with POTS you need at least thigh high but waist high is strongly recommended. I hate the waist high ones but, i love the thigh highs. I get so hot that i hated having them from my toes to above my bottom ribs. But, yes you should be able to go to a place that will measure you for the stockings.
  4. I can't explain why this one BB seems to be the drug of choice but I can explain a few things about beta blockers. There are 2 different beta receptors that are pertinent to the heart. THe beta 1 receptor when stimulated by adrenaline(and other hormones) causes increased heart rate, increased heart contractility(the force with which your heart contracts) and lipolysis(the break down of fat). The beta 2 receptor when stimulated by adrenaline causes vasodilation(relaxes your blood vessels) as well as bronchi dilation. There are other actions of these receptors but these are the important cardiology ones. Selective beta blockers only prevent the beta 1 receptor from being stimulated by the adrenaline(and other hormones). Nonselective betablockers block both beta 1 and beta 2 receptors from being stimulated by adrenaline. Propranolol is a nonselective bb so it decreases heart rate but blocks the beta 2 receptor so it can help prevent vasodilation(which could cause low blood pressure). Propranolol is also able to cross the blood brain barrier and decrease the central nervous system's release of adrenaline. ****the receptors are stimulated by hormones other then adrenaline ****the receptors have other actions then those i specifically stated ****people with high blood pressure are often(not always) given a selective beta blocker so the vasodilation receptor is not block. ****non selective BB are generally not given to people with breathing problems as they can prevent the bronchi dilation(opening of the airways)
  5. I've been having an awful time the past week and a half with nausea and vommitting. I feel really well in the morning so I try to stand and walk more but, at 1pm I start getting really nauseous and by 2 or 3 i have laydown and not move or I'm throwing up. Im sure its related to the POTS because when I don't do much I don't get sick. With standing and walking i know my heart rate is worse which makes my bloodsugars worse and the vommitting start and then i get stuck in a cycle. Does anyone have ideas to help the nausea? Any medications work or do i just have to keep trying different meds to get my heart rate down to fix the problem? I'm so so so frustrated that my standing and walking tolerance is MUCH better but now it causes me to throw up all afternoon
  6. Biofeedback I'm sure has many forms. but usually a person is hooked up to a heart rate monitor or body temperature thermometer(i used either) and then a psychologists helps you learn to relax. So when I would come in I would have a higher heart rate from stress but i laid back in the recliner and the psych would do the whole "you're in a field of flowers in the sun etc" to get me to relax. I would listen to her and focus on relaxing at the same time i could see my heart rate and would focus on getting that number lower. Its just a way for someone to learn to relax so their body relaxes. After several sessions when I would get really stressed out about school I would remember all the things she said and could relax my brain to slow my breathing and heart rate. This was all before POTS and my heart rate was higher but not tachycardia. Does any of that make sense? I have no info on it as a treatment for POTS but rather as a anti-anxiety/relaxation treatment.
  7. you know how he diagnosed you as having a parasite versus another cause of your problems? Please please update on here each week. I'd love to hear how it all turns out. I've also done biofeedback for anxiety(this was before POTS) and it was REALLY helpful.
  8. Did he explain how you should get rid of the parasite? My only concern would be if its something that would require you to come in multiple times/pay lots of money per visit only to have him say he can't get rid of it. But if he has a healthy way that's not super expensive I can definetly see why you want to give it a shot.
  9. I would also first check with your insurance. That way you can be fitted for you that has everything you need. If your insurance will only pay for one kind of wheelchair you can pay just for any upgrades you need usually. Also, when you call your insurance make sure you say you need it for in your home. Most insurance won't cover a wheelchair just so you can shop, go to work etc.
  10. I'm a type one diabetic and there are times when I know I'm low but I test and I'm 100. 100 is a perfect number. I drink juice and i'm still 100. i eat and drink more because i feel really low and I continue to stay at 100. Even though my blood sugar stayed at a constant good number, it was only because i was drinking juice to prevent the low. And if my body needed that much food and juice to stay at 100 then i was clearly burning though sugar which is why i felt so awful.
  11. I have the same problem. I asked my cardiologist about this and she said that with POTS your blood pressure and heart rate readings don't tell you whats actually going in your body. If you have normal vitals it may just be because you're body is working hard to keep them normal but in an abnormal way which is why you feel bad. did that make any sense?
  12. its small intestinal bacterial overgrowth. It means a person has either too much or the wrongs kinds of bacteria in their small intestine. i just googled it to learn more. i take back my yogurt suggestion-i was thinking undergrowth(thats my brain fog for you)
  13. tinkyada sells lasagna noodles at my meijers and honestly no one can even tell a difference. for most things other then sandwich bread/doughnuts/cinnamon rolls you'll find really good replacement and many that most non-gluten free people will eat and not even notice a difference.
  14. I don't know much about SIBO or olive leaf extract but, if its not dr prescribed can you stop taking it for a little while and see if you feel better. Can yogurt help? I know yogurt increases the bodies good intestinal bacteria. Somedays when I haven't eaten enough I get really nauseous and its hard to eat even though needing to eat its what causing the nausea in the first place. Are you able to hold food down even if it doesn't feel very good? Can you try something like ensure as a supplement until you can eat better?
  15. Adderall worked wonders for my brain fog. My mental acuity is not back to what it was before POTS. I can't multi task like i used to and i occasionally have trouble remember the word i want to say but, I would not be in school with adderall.
  16. I get so irritated that theres never a good time to take a shower. I have energy in the morning but, if i take my shower in the morning I'm exhausted and need to take a long nap which ruins my day. I'd rather take a shower at night so i can just go to bed afterwards but i'm so tired at night its really really hard and sometimes impossible. Someone suggested wipes like baby wipes but you can buy them in the pharmacy section to help tide you over until you can take a shower. Theres also shampoo that doesn't require water you rub into your hair and let it dry. I've only used in the hospital but it worked pretty well.
  17. betty crocker know makes gluten free mixes available in most stores and many varieties of Chex cereal are gluten free(they'll say so on the package). popcorn, fritos, nut thins crackers, tortilla chips are all good snacks that are in almost all grocery stores. beaver creek soup mixes are yummy and most are gluten free.
  18. I love my gluten free gourmet cooks fast and healthy book. it has recipes for delicious pancakes and other things that my whole family eats and loves. she also has a flour "recipe" i use this mixture of different flours and use it to replace flour in any cookie recipe with the addition of xanthum gum the cookies come out delicious and my non gluten free family all eat them. its cheaper to make your own bread, baked goods then buy from a store and they almost always come out better. bread is the hardest to make so i wouldn't worry about that for a while. I mean just don't eat sandwich bread until u figure out if you really have to go gluten free. the gluten free pantry has great mixes.
  19. Wow it seems like such a range. I don't have a thyroid anymore but maybe I should get my levels tested to see if I'm taking too much synthroid. Has anyone taken a calcium channel blocker for high heart rate? If you have low blood pressure with POTS then will lowering your heart rate make your bloodpressure worse since your hr can help compensate for low bp?
  20. I was curious what everyones heart rate was like when they are lying down or sitting. My sitting hr is around 125-130, beta blockers didn't help because they made me so tired and caused my blood pressures to drop every more. Is it typical to have a higher resting heart rate?
  21. Celiac has an incredibly wide range of symptoms from bloating, diarrhea to headaches and fatigue. I did the antibiody test and they came back neg for celiac but positive for IBD. When I stopped eating gluten my symptoms went away and when I tried a piece of bread again I got very sick. My colonoscopy was neg but those rarely show celiac because celiac affects the small intestine. The only way to check the small intestine is to do an endoscopy which is a much more serious procedure. I decided since I got so sick whenever I ate anything with gluten it didn't matter what the endoscopy said I couldn't eat gluten anyway so it wasn't worth the risk.
  22. Bear Creak Cheddar Potatoe Soup-1 cup has almost 1000mg of sodium and its delicious
  23. I was diagnosed with Celiac about a year before. Does that count?
  24. thanks for the info. But in POTS your HR usually continues to increase when you're standing it doesn't usually decrease even after half an hour so how can someone have both? They did a 35 minute ttt? I'm surprised they kept at it so long. If you have just NCS do you dont have the other autonomic problems like hot flashes?(i didn't until i develop POTS so i'm just wondering what's typical) I think Dr.Grubb told me with NCS you are fine between episodes unlike POTS which is constant. Is that what you'd say pat57?
  25. So three years ago I was diagnosed with NCS. I did the tilt table test-they tilted me up and I was fine then they put adrenaline in my IV which caused my HR to increase and subsequently I passed out. Five weeks ago I developed and was diagnosed with POTS. Dr.grubb said it was probably POTS all along. Now I would pass out as soon as they tilted the table up and i wouldn't need adrenaline to raise my heart rate. So how can the NCS have been POTS if the symptoms were different and the treatment too. If you have POTS and pass out does that mean you have POTS and NCS? If not then whats the difference between having POTS and passing out and having POTS and NCS?
