  1. My last stretch of low fevers ended up being mono. It was almost embarassing going to my doctor to complain about excessive fatigue ... POTS, 4 kids, med side effects. Was so thankful a reason was found for the sudden increase. Brye
  2. Buy new underwear? We have the eternal mound o laundry here too! It's all on one level though so if I'm really tired I just do small loads. My kids put their own away after I fold it. I have a cleaning person who comes every other week and catches me up a little bit. Is there someone you could hire every other week. Glad to hear your moving soon and hopefully this laundry situation will improve some. Hope that move goes well for you!!! Once it's all in one place and easier access maybe your kids can help a little more! I know my kids would be motivated by dirty underwear and socks!!
  3. I had a right eye twitch for a while. Caffeine, stress can cause this, I thought I was doomed to twitch forever. Who knew if you adjust the prescription on the contacts eye twitches can resolve. Whew!! Brye
  4. Stress is a big trigger for me. Meal times are horrible, trying to get dinner ready, 4 kids all needing something different, I find myself doing a lot of deep breathing around that time. By the time I get dinner on the table I'm too tired to sit down and enjoy it with them. Also when I'm rushing to get somthing done or feel like someone is waiting for me like writing a check my hand tremors kick in big time. Brye
  5. It was quick for me when my symptoms became severe. I would say about 1 week. I was in the hospital with a heart monitor and it was pretty obvious. Treatment has taken a whole lot longer!!! Brye
  6. Seated elliptical? I use both, I can go a lot longer and push a lot harder on a recumbant bike because I'm seated. The standing ellpitical gets my HR going a lot faster a lot quicker. I have to quit when I 1st get lightheaded to since it's hard to fall of one of those gracefully. Love the recumbant!! Brye
  7. My big fear is hurting myself if I faint. Recumbant bike is perfect for me because if I feel lightheaded I can still push through a little bit since I'm already sitting. If you have a healthy heart a HR in the 140's shouldn't be a problem. I do wear a HR watch when I exercise and I've gotten better about figuring out what HR I begin to feel lightheaded so I know when I need to back off. I've been exercising for about 1.5 years and it's probably been the best thing I've done!!! I've overcome a lot of fear!!
  8. Optic migraines can cause visual disturbances without necessarily having a HA. Still should check it out. But it can cause temporary blindness. Brye
  9. "You don't know anything about me ... and don't really need too" You need some kind of quote to give them so you can just say it and move on. Brye
  10. That's why I had mine placed. To evaluate my syncope and determine if a pacemaker would maybe help in some way. Brye
  11. I have a loop recorder. It has been helpful in diagnosing some of my rhythms that are causing me problems. My batter died a few months ago and lasted about 20 months. Not sure if the doctor will put a new one in or not. Pretty painless overall, quick out patient surgery to put it in. Brye
  12. It does happen to normal people. My friend (who doesn't have POTS) did the same thing as well ... twice. I feel like I'm losing it often though. I forgot to take my socks of getting in the shower once, that sealed the deal for me!! Brye
  13. Gosh ... so many to choose!!! FATIGUE for sure!!! Brye
  14. AWWWWW! That's one of my favorite songs. Thanks so much for sharing and so glad to hear she's doing so well!!! What a beautiful voice. Loved it!! Brye
  15. I applied for SSDI and was approved the 1st time around and in less than 6 months so it is possible to get a quick response. I would say don't stall though once you make a decision. I put it off longer than I should have because I had heard so many stories of rejection I assumed I would be denied at least once. You just never know. Brye
  16. I had a similar moment recently and had to really focus on being sympathetic. It was just an innocent FB post and this particular person was complaining about having to take a medicine for 10 WHOLE DAYS, and to top it off, EVERY 12 HOURS. Seriously!!! Brye
  17. Midodrine can cause similar symptoms. Do you take Midodrine? That's one of the side effects I've noticed. Brye
  18. No HA's here from the midodrine but horrible scalp itching. I was able to wean off of it for a while and went about 8 months without it. Summer has beeen rough for me though so I had to give it another try. Still scalp itching but definite impact on my BP by the next day. Went from systolic 80's to systolic low 100's. I also have felt a little better. My ankle swelling resolved as well when I started up again ... bonus. Only you can decide if you want to give it another try. After making a few errors when adjusting my own meds though I've found it best to consult with my doctor before I make my own decision. Like I've stopped meds abruptly that were supposed to be weaned ... oops. Hope you find something that works for you!! Brye
  19. You could be a babysitter? WOW!! I filed due to POTS and was approved, it took less than 6 months. I filed by myself but I did have the help of a friend who is a lawyer prior to applying the 1st time. POTS and recurrent syncope were my main diagnosis I guess. Hope you find a good lawyer who can help!!! I was shocked and relieved when I got my approval letter the 1st attempt. I think my friend was even a bit surprised. Brye
  20. Developed POTS after baby #4. Less active and really difficult to lose baby weight. Brye
  21. I held my own personal pity party, then I moved on and focused on what I needed to do to make myself function again. I couldn't work so I applied for disability. The money from that has helped me regain control of my life. I had a REALLY hard time keeping up with my kids. I hired a babysitter to help a few days a week. I hired a house cleaner. I joined a cardiac maintenance program at the hospital fitness center. I have put my kids to work helping out around the house. On days I'm too tired and need a nap I've decided my kids brains may be a little Wii fried but they will survive. I've been sick for about 4 years. When I began having problems I had a friend with 2 young boys who became sick as well. She developed colon cancer and passed away less than a year later. I'm SO thankful for each day I can hug my kids and get up out of bed and spend time with them. I have bad days too but I try really hard to focus on the positive and never give up. My family needs me and I want to be sure I'm doing everything possible to live the best life I can. Brye
  22. I have a 3 y.o. that launches me out of bed in the morning. He's normally the 1st to arrive to jump start my day. I've got the sit stand schedule mastered. I have 2 spots for an emergency seat near my bed and that has been a life saver for me. Some mornings it takes several tries to stand up. My kids have learned to be patient. They know mom gets tired and needs to rest. Thank goodness for patient kids!! My husband helps with the morning routine when he can and that gives me some much needed wake up time. Calf raises help me a lot when I 1st stand up as well. More blood flow to my brain I guess. Hope you find something that works for you! If I have a bad day I try to focus on being thankful I can stand at all! Brye
  23. I have an internal med doctor nearby who is very helpful. My cardiologist is 3.5 hours away. I see my internal med doctor for almost everything before seeing my cardiologist. Even if it seems like more of a heart concern he's good about helping me sort out what's urgent and what has an easy fix!! Hope your daughter continues to improve!! Brye
  24. So sorry!! Hope you get it figured out. Leg swelling is the worst. Mine is in good control right now but I'm having prego flashbacks right now. High fashion compression hose was my first thought too! I have a love/hate relationship with those for sure!! I'll be thinking of you! Keep us posted! Brye
  25. So glad she's getting a bit better!! I just re-started my midodrine to improve my BP and have noticed my HR dropping into the 30's to 40's again. It does improve my BP though. I have a horrible time with scalp itching though so if you notice her scratching her head you'll know why! I had to choose between being able to stand and living with an itchy scalp and standing won out!! I've had POTS over 3 years now and still am dependant on zofran at times. You must be so relieved they've ruled out any psych causes, how stressful, especially since you knew that wasn't the problem. Way to stick to it!!!! Hope the improvements continue and she can go home soon!! Brye
