  1. I was put on Toprol, which helped bring my heart rate down. I now have a bounding, forceful pulse, yet still slower b/c of the beta blocker. Is this normal with those of you who take beta blockers? It doesn't bother me, I just want to know if it's dangerous for my heart to beat forcefully.
  2. I was put on a beta blocker recently. It has brought my heart rate down, which is great, but now i just feel kinda dizzy and anemic a lot. I'm worried that the beta blocker will cut down my blood flow, and keep my heart and brain from getting enough blood and oxygen. Is this something I should be worried about? I know a lack of blood and oxygen can cause strokes and heart attacks. I just wonder whether its better for my heart rate to be high.
  3. Has anyone had problems with beta blockers making your heart beat with more force. My pulse isn't high, just beating hard. I didn't have this problem before taking it. What should I do?
  4. My heart rate goes up dramatically following a meal. Is this just a symptom of POTS, or can IST cause this too?
  5. I am new here. I haven't been diagnosed, but i have been cleared of everything imaginable. I suspect i may have some type of dysautonomia. My heart rate jumps with standing, walking, and eating. I have a few questions: 1. I seem to understand that your heart rate goes up due to blood pooling or a drop in blood pressure. If you take beta blockers to slow the heart rate, then doesn't that result in insufficient blood flow? 2. What can I do to help my situation until I get a diagnosis? What should i eat and drink? 3. I know some say they do not have blood pressure changes. If you do have blood pressure changes, does that mean your case is worse?
  6. I went to the doctor today and my blood pressure was 103/73. Is this too low? If not, what is considered too low. I have been on a beta blocker for almost 3 weeks. (Toprol XL 100mg....I was given 100mg because the dr. had samples of them)
  7. I think i may have POTS and I was wondering if it is terminal? Also, are beta blockers dangerous? It seems that with POTS the body, needs the heart to beat fast to make up for the loss in blood pressure.
