Waking Up With Racing Heart Part 2

Recommended Posts

i would like peoples experiences with waking up with the heart beating so fast......i dont think i snore which is common in sleep apnea....i probably am not breathing in my sleep i dont know....is this an autonimic issue? my heart doesnt race during the day like this....only when trying to sleep pr waking me up out of sleep....i also dream vividly every single night....i dream alot and i rember at least two dreams i have a night....most peopel i ask dont rember there dreams at all hardly.....i rember in details all of them why is that? is that a sign of somthing else? does anyone else rember there dreams like this? the band type feeling around upper abs only happens when i wake up from sleep as well, it just happend again last night....my problem too is that i often am having a bad dream when my heart takes off and i wake up but maybe im having the bad dream becasue my heart is racing? somtimes it happens for no reason while sleeping i dont know why but it seems bad dreams make it more likely to happen....does this make any sence?

I have the same exact thing. I am pretty sure I am having vivid dreams because my heart is already beating fast. Then something startling will happen in a dream - like falling off a cliff - just at the point where I wake up. This is a pretty common symptom - you may want do searches on this topic. I find that this especially happens on days when I have over-exerted myself. You may want to keep track of your activities.

i just made a startling discovery, i was just drifting off into dream land again just now and it happened again this time it was with no anxiety ,,,as soon as i wake up it only last up to a min longer not even and it then the rate goes back to normal...so its only happening when im falling asleep pr asleep when i wake up i still feel it zooming away but it only last a about 40 more secs after...its somthing about the transition into sleep thats doing it i think

There are alot of medications that can cause vivid dreams. I'm not sure what medications, if any you take. Betablockers are known for this. I often dream I am running or fearful and awaken with a rapid heartrate. I take 10mg of Inderal and within half an hour I am ready to sleep again. I also have sleep apnea but couldn't tolerate a CPAP. I know my BP gets very low during the night and I think that causes my heart to beat faster to get my BP up, then the dreams start.

I'm seeing my physician next Tuesday about the low BP at night because often times I feel like I am fainting as I sleep.

Dawn

One of my boys always has vivid dreams infact he hates to go to sleep because he knows he will dream so much, he often wakes up with his heart racing, not sure if this is because he is sceard witless or if his fast HR rate makes him dream so.
