cardiactec Posted November 10, 2006 Report Posted November 10, 2006 yeah i am actually already involved in the boston study. i actually just got back last night from it. they do a lot of different things on you, but are all still investigating into specific causes that could be going on.......it's a great research study to get into (if it's the one i'm in that you're talking about)......... Darlene Posted November 12, 2006 Report Posted November 12, 2006 Like what are the different things they do to you? Anything to make you pass out? Quote
cardiactec Posted November 12, 2006 Report Posted November 12, 2006 i have never passed out with the things they do. with the study they have now, they use either placebo or the real deal med (there are a bunch of meds they use, depending on the visit) then they wait for whatever it is they gave you to kick in, then they go through and have you do some breathing tests supine, then they inject different meds in an IV to watch BP and HR responses (again all while you are lying down) .........they also do a 20 minute tilt (i only lasted 15 minutes, and they are good to put you down when you say you need to be put down - ha sounds like i'm talking about a dog that's on it's last legs, going for a trip to the vet "to be put down", lol) ...........then they do LOWER BODY NEGATIVE PRESSURE test after the tilt..........they put you half way (waist down) in a tank that is pressurized. it simulates a tilt test but you are supine. i was surprised by this test because about 6 minutes into it i was getting the same symptoms i had when they did the tilt and my HR and BP were where they were at when i was standing for the tilt! crazy. that's about it.............i'm not sure if you are doing this part of the study or the other part of the study so.........this was my most recent experience (last week).
