LindaJoy Posted November 8, 2006 Report Posted November 8, 2006 Hi, those who have a mitrochondrial disorder, could we talk? I would like to investigate this as a possible problem for me, and I need to talk with those of you who have experience with it to see if it may be a possibility for me.Thanks.Linda Quote
Sunfish Posted November 8, 2006 Report Posted November 8, 2006 hi linda -i hadn't had a chance to reply yet but there are only three members of the forum that i'm aware of who have a definite or even probable mito diagnosis. one hasn't been active on the board for sometime, the other has been recently diagnosed so is still in the learning stages herself, & i have merely a "probable" diagnosis.it IS possible to be diagnosed at your age. there is much not known about mito disorders, particularly in adults, so much that you see/read will be about children, but there is info on what is known in adults.as you mentioned, one of the top docs is at CC but i believe that he generally sees only pediatrics.to learn more i would definitely recommend looking at the www.umdf.org site. they have extensive info.hope this helps... melissa Quote
lthomas521 Posted November 10, 2006 Report Posted November 10, 2006 The treatments used for mitochondrial disorders are mostly over-the-counter nutritional supplements. Even though I haven't had any investigation of mitochondrial disease, I'm doing much better since I started these supplements. Quote
