Hoobaid
Hi everyopne. I am some what new to the forum and had a few questions.I am having problems and have been for some time, with throwing up after some meals. I went through many tests, MRIs, etc. and they found nothing. It seems to happen when my heart races to 160+ after a meal. I have been experimenting with different things that could trigger it. Larger meals, not being able to lie down after eating or very rich foods.Does anyone else have problems with nausea or throwing up? Could these be symptoms of POTS?Any feed back would be great. Thanks!Lori
bttrflyamby1981
I can fell this way too, but I have not been dx with pots. I think that it is a symptom of POTS though. There is a list of symptoms on dinet if you haven't had a chance to look at it yet. It's very helpful.Amber

calypso
Could you be having an allergic response? Otherwise, it is completely possible that you are having POTS-related nausea. Other people here have that. I do not.Hope you get some answers, or at least some good suggestions on how to control this.Amy
juliegee
Hi Lori,Maybe your vomiting/nausea is a symptom of your POTS esp. as it seems to occur when your HR is so high. But, one other thought is that maybe you have a motility problem. Unfortunately, they are relatively common with autonomic issues. The first test that your GI can do is a gastric emptying study. Try to do a 4 hour test- they are a bit more reliable. If that comes back normal, you may want to look into motility studies. Best of luck.Julie Hi everyopne. cardiactec
yep, i'd have a gastric motility study done to see how much and how quickly you are emptying your foods from your stomach.i have had years of nausea, mostly related to eating but i can get it at any time. it is worse with eating then lying down after eating. meat products, chinese food, and potato/starch seem to irritate my stomach the most........i'd check in with your primary care to see if you have a dysmotility issue.......feel better.... jkapache
I am having motility tests done at the moment... think esophageal dysmotility as I regergatate most of my food.... bread is the hardest, so that doesnt happen as much but most other foods it does. Good luck, talk to your dr about it!
