jkapache
I was just at the GI dr and was dx with Raynaud's! He thinks that there might be a link to my regergitating and Raynaud's. Anyone else ever had this? I just had a barium test today... and the radiology dr said that I had esophugus dysmotility. But everything radiography wise looked good..... so i guess more tests to come. But wondering about the Raynaud's, could this be cuaseing the dysmotility?? mom4cem
I have Reynaurd's. It is poor circulation. My fingers, toes, nose and ears suffer during the winter. They start to turn purple and when I get back into a warm room etc, they hurt and burn. As soon as the weather starts to change and the temp begins to drop my fingers toes and nose are cold all the time. No matter how many layers of clothes etc.Smoking decreases circulation even more so I am told so if you smoke, quit. Beta blockers can also cause poor circulation so if you are on one, like I am, then that can increase or make the symptoms more likely to occur. MotleyLori
I also have Raynaud's and esophageal dysmotility. It is my guess that they are related as I have had an upper GI that showed the dysmotility and a esophageal manometry that showed nutcracker esophagus which causes painful spasms at times.Lori
Sunfish
i have raynauds (though definitely not as severely as some) and severe dysmotility (though mine isn't in my esophagus but rather in every other part of my GI tract). the relationship that i can think of is that both CAN (but don't have to be) caused by neuropathy, which is likely the case for me. melissa
juliegee
Hi Jess,I'm actually glad you asked this question. I, too have had major problems with my esophagus (scarring, spasms, GERD) and other GI dysmotility. And I have horrible Reynaud's. I was actually hospitalized for 3 days this past winter because one of my fingers turned dark purple/black and wouldn't pink up. There has to be some link between POTS, Reynauds, & GI tract problems. Probably an autonomic neuropathy. I'm curious to hear others experiences.Julie
