What Helps The Brain Fog?

Recommended Posts

I have severe brain fog all day long, temporarily releived when I lay down. For me this is my worst symptom and does not seem to be getting better with treatment. I am currently taking lopressor, am on my 4th week now. It is doing a great job of controlling my heart rate, but my doc says once the lopressor controls your heart rate your brain fog and neuro symptoms should go away. I don't think so and I am getting very discouraged. I feel like I have a brain of a 90 yr old woman. Social situations are difficult for me because I feel like I am in space all the time.

Also, I noticed my hair is falling out and my feet are Extremely cold of which I think is from the lopressor.

Any advice, please help.

Sara,

I had a lot of troule with brain fog. When do you take your lopressor - I only take mine at night. Also, I take provigal which has seemed to help with brain fog. I belief also the florinef has helped some too. As for the hair falling out I don't think that is happening to me - but I also take a prenatal vit. These are just suggestions you might try. I did a post on brain fog just a few weeks ago - you may want to look back at it for other posts.

Good Luck

Kel

Hi,

my doctor just prescribed Paxil for me, to help with brain fog and concentration- especially since I start my senior year in 1 week! It does seem to be helping, and I'm not so much feeling like a zombie as I was, though I'm still counting on the drowsiness to go away..

Good luck!!

I just saw my POTS Dr. She said based on my heart rate, BP, syptoms, etc the reamaning brain fog I am experiencing is likely not due to POTS. (My fog has been 24/7 for 6 months since I first got sick.)

I asked her about tests for brain circulation, etc and she suggested I cotinue to work with the headache specialist (neurologist) I am seeing for a wierd version of migraine that does not usually give me a pounding headache, but just a lot of other related symptoms. I am trying to get with him for next steps on this.

If you have any migraine symptoms, think about maybe focusing on resolving those too.

I understand how awful it is to feel like you are living on another planet all the time, so if you find something that works please let us all know.

My brain fog is the worst in the middle of the afternoon. I find it almost impossible to carry on a conversation and I just want to be by myself or lie down.

No real side effects to the Provigil. If I take 200 mg some days, I think my nausea increases. I start with 100mg @ 6, and it will wake me in one hour- just in time for work. I take the next @ noon and it will carry me through until about 10 pm before it drops me. Just enough to get everything done. I still feel foggy at times, but I have moments when I feel a clear breakthough (isn't it wierd?) and when that happens, I do all of my hard tasks at work that require clear decision-making. In the afternoon, I drink coffee. I'm convinced that without the two, I would have come close to making unwise decisions at work on some of my projects. Its a little pricey, but for me it pays for itself.

Good luck.

Only speaking for my own experience, I have found strength training twice a week makes a huge improvement in the brain fog and fatigue. I feel much better than I did with Provigil - and it's a lot cheaper. It may not work in each case, but it seems to for me.

I'm still going to fork out the $$ for my provigil script just in case the improvement doesn't last. Aerobic exercise seems to bring back the horrible brain fog, so go figure.
