Balance

I have great difficulty with balance and wondering how many out there do as well??? Is this a major symptom for you??

I was diagnosed with vestibular disorder, a year ago, but it hasn't improved, even with rehab. I have been sent to many specialists, neuro, etc. No clear answer yet.

Can POTS be playing into this, I have felt from beginning it was realted to poor blood flow.

Thanks for any responses.

hi nadine,

i have balance issues as well, and it varies from hour to hour. there are times that i can?t walk at all and times )usually during the late hours of the evening, if i?m still up) when my balance is almost normal. i don?t have a clue why but maybe it has to do with bloodflow, just not sure about it. nobody knows so i don?t have an answer.

corina

when my POTS is bad my balance is also bad. I also get more weakness on my left side, and have noticed that walking up down stairs is more tricky when I have had a bad POTS night.

I wish I could tell you why this happens. My MRI's and EMG's are all normal.

However, I have had good weeks where my balance is good enough to ride a very old and and reliable horse.

Does your balance issues come and go with your POTS ups and downs.

I have balance issues, but mainly in the morning and at night. Otherwise, I'm kinda clumsy, but I couldn't necessarily categorize it as thinking there's something wrong with the equilibrium... I guess that's about all I'm able to connect to balance issues right now, although there must be other causes, too!

Thanks for the responses. This gives me some hope that it may improve with time. I was doing a little better for a few weeks, but it has increased again. Very frustrating and difficult to think it isn't something neuro related. They just aren't sure at this point. :)

Thanks again---------

sorry late response,

But I too have balance issues...it is not uncommen for me to run into things or hurt myself because I scrape myself with objects (like doors ect..) It gets better for me in the later hours...

Good luck,

Amber

I too have problems with balance at times. I can't balance my bike if my daughter is in her seat on the back of it. I can no longer ride with her because I fell not too long ago with her in the seat. (she was fine thank God) Sometimes I have problems with peripheal vision too.

Hi,

I also have balance disorders. It was at it's worst last summer. I had all sorts of vestibular testing done...The docs think I may have had a viral infection in my ear or something like that.

I am alot better now in the balance area, but still have days when I feel like I am going to fall over.

I hope the docs get to the root of the balance prob. It really is bad to deal with.
