JenniferInOhio
Ferritin level for a female? What is normal?
Sunfish
according to labwork i have copies of, the reference range for ferritin (which is essentially iron stores in your body) is 20-120. different labs may have slightly different ranges but they're generally within the same ballpark. there is no variation between male & females though i would think females would be more likely to be lower. mine is 5...not something to be proud of hope this helps, melissa
JenniferInOhio
Wow Melissa, that is a low number. Mine is 10.5. The labs at the cleveland clinic said 9-150 was normal. I wonder why different labs have different reference ranges? Shouldn't they be the same?
Eli6596
HiThe normal ferritin level will vary from lab to lab. You need to ask your lab about their normal range. This can be the case with other lab values too. It can depend on the equipment. What is normal for a RESTLESS LEGS patient is different from a patient without restless legs. Restless legs patients should have a ferritin greater than 45.Karyn
futurehope
Hi,I ditto what Karyn said. My sleep doc wants my iron levels to be higher than the reference reanges in order to keep restless leg syndrome at bay.
