kmpower
Hi everyone,I read that when blood proteins (total, especially) are low, the fluid can leak more easily from the blood vessels into the tissues because of osmosis changes, contributing to leg edema. Blood proteins hold fluid in the vessels. Doctors worry about low albumin, but even if albumin is normal or high, the total can be low.I know mine get low, being a veggie. I was wondering if anyone else had their proteins tested and found low. Thanks.OLL
Be Still
When I was a very-low-protein-vegetarian my protein levels were tested and they were fine. The point about low protein and edema is the entire thing behind Dr. Brewer's pregnancy diet that I posted about in the pregnancy poll. kmpower
Thanks, Be Still. I didn't exactly read the Pregnancy Poll because it didn't exactly apply to me. But I just checked the link and am glad Dr. Brewer is recommending protein and salt.
