LindaJoy
Hi, everyone.I was reading a newsletter from our local hospital yesterday, and in it was an article about depression and SSRI's. The writer said that some SSRI's can actually hurt the heart, so when one is started, we should talk with our heart doctor about it.Have any of you heard about SSRI's hurting the heart? If so, which ones and how do they hurt the heart? Thanks.LindaJoy
MomtoGiuliana
Not sure about this, but here is an article about side-effects of SSRIs. Apparently there are some more potentially dangerous side-effects that occur more frequently in elderly people, but I don't see anything specific about unwanted effects on the cardiovascular system. I wonder if the article was addressing drug interactions as opposed to side-effects?www.psychiatrist.com/pcc/pccpdf/v03n01/v03n0105.pdfKatherine
DancingLight
I saw an article on something like this too, but it is VERY vague in my memory...however I think it had to do with people who already had heart disease???? The article I read was really unclear...I also thought it was talking about some of the older anti-depressants....But, I am really not certain if I am remembering properly...Emily
