Jacquie802
Does POTS cause a person to have shortness of breath??? For a while now I have found that I can barely catch my breath even when I am in bed, as well as doing simple activities. I really feel like I am falling apart and I hate the fact that I have no control over it. Forget about walking up a flight of stairs, I can barely do it. Since I am having ear problems my neurologist prob won't give me anything to help since he wants to separate which problem is causing which symptoms. I won't find out the exact cause of my disequilibrium and vertigo until March, since that is the next avail. aptmt. ( I am on the cancellation list). I'm still waiting on a decision for SSDI as well as any type of insurance I can get. I hate the fact that my friends no longer call me to hang out, and I hate that I am complaining to everyone, because I know you all are/have gone through the same thing. How does everyone deal with family and friends, as well as this whole illness?? I know I should be taking a closer look at what I CAN do and be thankful, that's actually what I am thinking about now....I guess this is it for tonight just needed to vent. Goodnight guys. d4g7
I find I get shortness of breath often. Some of the time it is panic related, and other times it is from exertion.
calypso
I have shortness of breath that has no explainable cause, but came on with my onset of POTS. I get it at rest, when standing, etc. No rhyme or reason to it. To be safe, it would be good for you to have a thorough round of pulmonary function testing, and probably an echocardiogram. Definitely talk to your doctor about it.Amy
hockeykid
I have shortness of breath too. I am pretty sure it is a POTS thing. Mine comes on without any reason at all and it isn't panic attacks(I don't have those). I had the pulmonary funtion tests and there was nothing wrong there. It might be a good idea to have them though and ask your doctor about it.
tracy
I get shortness of breath also, when I got diangosed, they put me through a breathing test, to make sure the shortness of breath was caused by my lungs, and they found I have no problems with lung intake or outtake, so it is my POTS. My can come on at any time, but I do find it happens alot if my heart speeds up.
ben_uk
Hi, I also have breathing problems. I also have sleep apnea.I don't think much can be done for the shortness of breath but maybe it will improve with time.Take care,Ben
mom4cem
I have that also from time to time. Good just to have it checked out anyway. Try not to focus too much on it. I find that the more I focus on it then I seem to start the anxiety and worry and it makes me worse.
