lmt033167
ahhh now that is very interesting with Autism; MCAD and the misbehaving .... Histamines..ready for something weird? sometimes my son cries for no apparent reason, we ask different things to try and find out what's wrong; but normally he just sounds a bit stuffy and the dr told me to give hime an antihistamine...within an hour he's feeling better....think there's any connection?I'm going to ask her about Autism & MCAD and see what she suggests, maybe testing him for it. juliegee
The easiest way to check for mastocytosis in a child (or anyone!) is to just check for serum tryptase- simple blood test. Most kids with mastocytosis have a skin condition called urticaria pigmentosa. Google images to see. I get the feeling that there may be treatment implications for autism patients who don't have mastocytosis- might be as simple as combining an H-1 and an H-2 for all. We'll see.... Best of luck-Julie
