Any Moms in New Jersey?

Hi all,

I know this is a long shot, but are there are moms of young kids in NJ? My daughter is 6 and I would love to connect with local moms. I’m in NJ. It would be great to find moms who understand the struggle. I feel like I can’t relate to any of the moms I’ve met because none of them have similar issues and I just can’t do every activity or be out all day like they can. Chronic illness has made me feel so isolated.

@cly09 -- I am in Texas, so not near you at all. But, I have 2 young kids and totally understand how you feel! It is hard to keep up with the other moms sometimes. I get jealous of how other moms can be on their feet for long periods at museums or parks when with their kids. I have a few close friends that understand, but it is still hard!

@cly09 - I became ill with POTS when my daughter turned 4 and was unable to do the smalles things with her - no tea parties, no swimming lessons, no shopping trips or zoos etc. Thankfully my husband was game and did all of those things with her, and later other moms pitched in, for bra shopping or nail salons etc. In the end she didn't miss out on nothing and today we have the closest of relationships!

Thanks for the reply, it’s really good to be able to relate. I get very jealous of that too! It’s frustrating when all your want to do is be normal and give your kids the world, but your body doesn’t always cooperate. That’s awesome that you found some understanding friends, this is definitely my mission!

Thank you for the reply, that gives me some confidence. I’m so sorry you couldn’t do any of those things and it helps me put things in perspective. I’m okay with doing things at home, but have issues with being outside a lot, standing a lot, and I’m terrified to sign her up for swimming and dance lessons because I got unpredictable adrenaline surges that I have no control over. It’s hard not to feel guilty too when I don’t work and yet don’t feel I can sign up to help in her school, etc. I just have to remember she probably won’t remember any of the things we couldn’t do.
