Anyone diagonsed with Attention Deficit D/O

Recommended Posts

Yes, and not yet.

Psych says that my symptoms are consistent with ADHD. My version of brain fog set in at least 6 months before my other symptoms got worse. I quit my job in December last year because of brain fog, depression, fatigue etc...

I say "my version" of brain fog because I've always had a slow processing speed. My brain used to work great, but slow. Now it works okay, but even slower, and only for short bursts. Then craps out on me. I can't learn new things well. I struggle to recall names and words. I am constantly frustrated with thoughts that either don't come, get lost in the mix, or come too late to be useful. My wife can diagnose how how I'm doing by how bad my communication gets.

I just started ramping up very slowly on nortriptyline. I am hopeful that it could heko,  but cautiously so. My psych told me that it may make things worse at first - particularly the POTS. I'm crossing my fingers.

Yes, I was diagnosed with ADD when I had a neuropsychologist evaluation for seizures and brain fog. ..She said I had it all my life but learned to compensate. Once POTS hit the compensating did not work out anymore. I take Ritalin for POTS and it really helped me.

I have ADHD.  The medications help immensely.  It is all about executive functioning.  With meds I can easily see how tasks should be prioritized.  It is much much easier to get started on tasks, too.  It is easier to not be impulsive and to sustain my attention span on only one thing at a time.  Everything is clearer.  ADHD symptoms feel very different than POTS-induced brain fog.

Thank you for your replies. It helps, somehow, knowing that Im not alone. I have not been diagnosed with Dysautonomia but I have many symptoms. I am trying to get the VA to refer me to a specialist but I am not going to hold my breath.  I take concerta/ritalin for twenty plus years. I was recently taken off of the concerta for a couple weeks because of spikes in my blood pressure. I determined the Concerta wasnt causing it or making it worse. But it was a miserable two weeks. My forgettfulness and other ADD symptoms are getting worse as well. Anyway, thanks for responding.
