Part time caregiver?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have one or have you tried to obtain one through Medicare? I am currently looking into this.

@lieze - if I am correct medicare does not cover those types of services.  You could call your medicare plan and ask for a case manager - they can advise you as to what your plan covers. If not covered you can get those services on your own, check with local home care agencies or senior services ( even if you are not a senior - they can give you contacts for these types of services ). You can also check advertisements in your local paper or advertise yourself.

What are you looking for? A friend of mine had Medicare Advantage and was able to get someone to help her with a bath once a week. She was 84. Other than that, nothing.

Hi, @lieze!

Last year, I had a health aide come to my house weekdays for about six weeks.  My insurance didn't cover it and I'm not on Medicare - we paid out-of-pocket.  However, we were able to deduct the costs as one of our medical expenses (and we had a mess of 'em) on our income taxes - depending on your situation, you may be able to do this, too.  Wishing you good luck!!

I will ask with my doctor. I had looked up what you needed to qualify and it looked like maybe I did but I could be wrong. I will update once I find out. I have Medicare part A  and B. I pay a monthly premium for one of those.
