Has anyone with Medicaid got insurance to cover a pots doctor out of state?

Recommended Posts

If yes or no, what were the circumstances? I only have one pots Doc in my state with an 11 month wait list. I'm trying to see DrGrubb and I finally am at the top of his waitlist, but I can only go if insurance covers it.

As a general question to you all, whether you have Medicaid or another insurance, does your insurance cover your appointments when you go out of state or you're all paying out of pocket?

Thanks!

I agree call your insurance. They may have red tape you will have to go through but it is possible. My sister in law lives in louisiana. She has MS. Only one doctor for it took her Medicaid so the allowed her to go to a doctor in Mississippi (I think). I am lucky I have a specialist in my state that the wait list wasn't too long. But I may try a autonomic clinic in the future to find my underlying cause.

@joiedevivre - I was on Medicaid and tried to get my out-of-state specialist covered because there was no specialist for POTS in my state but they refused and I had to pay out-of-pocket.
