I've just been prescribed Propranolol after a bad experience with Bisoprolol. I feel like there's a lot of hit and miss with beta blockers.

I wondered if there was one that Dysautonomia patients tolerate better than others? So I figured lets do a poll!

I took atenolol and betaxalol before landing on acebutolol. I really had a different experience with each one. Hopefully the propranolol will work out for you.

I was first put on metoprolol, however by blood pressure went very low on it and I took a very low dose. (12.5 mg I think)

After three days I stopped, and the doctor gave me Nebivolol (Bystolic). I take 5 mg every morning and it works well at keeping my heart rate down with out lowering my blood pressure as much.

My specialists insists on pindolol.  It seems to work for me.  However I tried metoprolol during my last bad relapse and it seemed maybe more effective.

Typically I take a very small dose.  During a relapse I increase the dosage.

I tried several, propranolol, metropralol, atenolol and I think one other before a cardiologist ordered bystolic.  I love it.  It doesn’t cause the severe fatigue the others did and after (and still) adjusting the dose I have less tachycardia.  I still get tachy episodes and hydration is vital but it works better than the others for me.

I tried propranolol first. It helped but after a few weeks I noticed my breathing issues were getting worse. We then tried a calcium channel blocker. Helped but not enough. My pulmonologist recommended the metoprolol. I take the tartrate. I have tried the succinate but it seems like it isn't enough. I take 25mg in the morning. Supposed to take another 25mg at night (hit or miss for me). And if I feel bad during the day I can take another 25mg. I haven't noticed fatigue with it. And it lowers my BP about 10 points. It only helps my HR and heart palpitations though. I take midodrine to help with my other issues.

I tried Metoprolol, Propranolol, Carvedilol and Atenolol before my doctors said, ok I think it’s safe to say you have poor reactions to ALL beta blockers (I had very negative side effects to all of the above).

Im currently on Ivabradine, however this is not a beta blocker, but it does work in similar ways just on different channels in the body. I’ve had ZERO side effects on this one - That being said, the only thing it has helped in terms of symptoms is the tachycardia.

I tried Metoprolol and Bystolic before starting Carvelidol ( which has been most effective for me ). Other BB have not been able to help with BOTH tachycardia AND hypertension. However - I did not find significant improvement until I added Diltiazem ( calcium channel blocker ) to Carvelidol.
