Just did a brain MRI tonight

Recommended Posts

Anyone else have issues because something was wrong with their brain? This was my first MRI ever and I don't even really know what they are looking for or what they can find.

Hi @Derek1987 - whenever they order an MRI of the brain they are investigating the structure of the brain, to find out if there are any anatomical anomalies or tumors etc that could cause your symptoms. I had 2 of them over the years and thank god they were normal. But they have to rule out anything that could contribute your symptoms. If it is normal that does not mean that there is nothing wrong with you but rather that they can rule out brain issues.

I'm assuming it will come out fine since they already found out I was exposed to ticks. Or maybe that would cause an anomaly?

My short term disability at my job is waiting on the results of the MRI to determine if I'm eligible for long term disability. I don't know why they are waiting on that as the specialist said herself I can't return to work until she sees how I respond to treatment. I even sent the disability company a statement from her saying I couldn't return until I see her again and see how I'm responding to treatment. It's like they are looking for any reason to cut you off . I hope I don't have to appeal it. I'm legit sick. Heck, 3 days ago I almost had a fainting episode in Walgreens. That would of been embarrassing.

So if they force me back to work, I guess I'll be back on the ground like the last time I was at work lol.

For me, my doctor was looking for signs of Multiple Sclerosis, because the symptoms I have also line up that. He had me do a brain mri, all was normal there, so he had me do 3 MRIs, my complete spine, which also showed no evidence for MS. I think they first need to rule things out before giving a Dysautonomia diagnose, if they haven't diagnosed you yet.

I was given one to rule out MS and chiari.  Both were negative.  I hope the disability goes through.  It’s an awful game.

I had a brain MRI and everything was normal. I had mines because they're looking for a structural reason why my Bells Palsy keeps on coming back on the right side. It has damaged my face some and the next time it's going to leave me all messed up. I try not to think about that. I can deal with a lot of stuff, but having a half working face is going to send me straight over the edge. Then the Neurologist who was supposed to review the report quit the practice. I will eventually see another one because I want that surgery where they open up the small bone by the ear so when the nerve swells, blood supply will no longer be choked off. Do you guys thing Chronic Epstein Barr can case this. I have read that Herpes virus can also cause this.

What are your symptoms that line up with MS (if you don't mind me asking)? I'm a little nervous/anxious about the possibility of MS, but haven't had a brain MRI yet.

In my case I had clonus in a neurological exam.  It lasted 8+ seconds.  I never did find out why.  Chiari was to rule it out.
