Berly26
My POTS symptoms have be getting progressively worse, even with salt and water...Dr. wants to start Fludrocortisone. I’m nervous about the weight gain as I just recently lost 120lbs and would prefer to not go back. Plus, I’m more of a preventative measures kind of person. Any tips or advice is greatly appreciated! Lily
I had the same concern when I started it. A lot of people on the internet reported that starting with 1/4 tablet and increasing my 1/4 tablet each week up to the prescribed dose prevented weight gain. I did it like that, and I have not gained weight.
bombsh3ll
H Berly26, I wouldn't worry about gaining significant weight (other than perhaps a very small amount of water weight if it works). I couldn't tolerate fludrocortisone due to several side effects, but weight gain was not among them. You may even find it helps you maintain a healthy weight if it allows you to be upright and active more vs sedentary! Did you have POTS before your weight loss or did it develop since? I really hope you find the fludrocortisone helpful! B x
Berly26
I had POTS prior to weight gain, then it came back with a vengeance after weight loss!

Fingers crossed that doesn't happen to me. I have gained 30lbs in the past year or two and I started last week to lose 50. I am already down almost 5lbs. Pistol
@Berly26 - When I loose weight my POTS gets worse every time. It must have some metabolic reason. Maybe your POTS flare-up is due to the rapid weight loss?
