p8d Posted January 8, 2018 Report Posted January 8, 2018 I’m trying to figure out what this feeling of my insides shaking/vibrating is. It’s always just below the rib cage and starts and lasts after I’ve been upright for 20 minutes or so. My BP and HR are very good for me, 130s/80s, HR mid 60s. It’s extremely disconcerting. I’m wondering if it’s a norepi surge. I know I have hyper POTS and take methyldopa but usually later in the morning so I don’t tank my BP. Any ideas so I can throw them out to my neurologist in a couple of weeks? Thanks. Quote
valiz Posted January 10, 2018 Report Posted January 10, 2018 I have that happen occasionally too. Sometimes it is in the area you describe but more often I feel it in my feet. I figured in the feet it was neuropathy. What is methyldopa? I take Doxadopa (Northera). I feels like vibrations to me when it happens. Quote
p8d Posted January 10, 2018 Author Report Posted January 10, 2018 Methyldopa is an alpha agonist. It blocks norepinephrine surges. Quote
Peter Charlton Posted January 11, 2018 Report Posted January 11, 2018 I describe mine as "quivering inside", and it only occurs when I go to bed and relax. Quote
RC-POTS Posted January 11, 2018 Report Posted January 11, 2018 I used to get that feeling too. I always thought it was from low blood volume. I always thought of it like a swimming pool pump. Your veins are the pipes for the pool and your heart is the pump. If you run a swimming pool pump while the water is too low in the pool (comparatively your blood volume is too low) the pool pipes and pump vibrate a lot and are louder than normal. This may also account for why a lot of people can hear their heart beat inside their head. I am no doctor, but it just makes sense. Quote
