reaction to stress

I had dental surgery almost 6 weeks ago.  I was so stressed for days before the event I couldn't sleep or rest.  I made it through the surgery ok with only a headache, sore jaw, & mouth afterwards.   My mouth is healed.  Six weeks later I'm beginning to have a little more energy but still not my usual self.  Could all that stress/trauma to the body cause someone to take this long to feel better?  I do have adrenal problems  & Hashimoto's thyroid.  Thanks.

I'm sorry that happened Gertie. I think stress could really do this to your body. I know from experience that surgery (on the body not dental) does that to mine. It's not that I'm specifically stressed about surgery but more what it does to my body!

Hi Gertie,

I have sluggish adrenals although not full blown Addison s disease. I always feel terrible after a highly stressful event. I can never predict how long it will take to recover....there seems to be no rhyme or reason to it. I hope you feel better soon.

My two biggest 'symptom triggers' are definitely stress and fatigue. Its frustrating- but it is something that I am continually working on dealing with in order to keep my body in check!

I find that sometimes after a 'flare up' it can take a while to bounce back. Trying to get extra rest, keeping your feet elevated (when possible) and staying hydrated seems to help speed this process along.

Best wishes!!
