BeforeTheMorning
Hi everyone,I just wanted to post an introduction here. I've been lurking around the forums for quite some time now, picking up bits of information and I finally decided that it was time I joined in!I've been dealing with symptoms such as tachycardia, palpitations, dizziness, lightheadedness, fatigue, stomach issues, blood-pooling, etc............. for 3 or 4 years now, and my doctors have now told me that it's very likely that I have Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome. I've had an Active Stand Test and Autonomic Function Testing which they said showed a very significant POTS pattern, they just haven't told me it's definitely that yet.I'm really looking forward to getting lots of tips and advice from all of you as I use the forum. This is my first post so please bear with me if I've made any mistakes. Thanks,Lyla
KareBear
Welcome! You will find a lot of very helpful and friendly POTSy friends on here to help you through this. I'm not sure why your docs have not committed to the diagnosis yet, but a Tilt Table Test should be able to give a correct diagnosis. It's nice to meet you, but sorry it had to be because of this illness. Take care, Kara
looneymom
Hi Lyla,Welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear your story but glad you found us. Sounds like you have some doctors that are trying to help. There's lots of information on the forum and many of us are trying to figure out what's the underlying cause of our POTS illness. My son was diagnosed with POTS when he was 11 by MAYO.Rachel
BeforeTheMorning
Hi,Thanks for the welcome both of you.Kara, I think that maybe my 'main' doctor who is getting my tests, hasn't commited to the diagnoses yet because he has never seen me. His waiting list is quite long, and so he just ordered me lots of tests, I think maybe he will give me a more definite diagnoses when I go to see him at the end of December. He's also planning to try me on a medication and I'm really hoping it will help. Thanks again for the friendly welcome,Lyla
KareBear
Sounds like your wait isn't too much longer then! I hope once you see the doc and start some meds that you will have some improvement. Just in time for the holidays That would be nice! Psalm 23
Hi Lyla and welcome. I did a bit of lurking myself before I finally joined the forum earlier this year. Sounds like you are headed in the right direction in terms of learning more about your condition. That's great that your doctor has a med in mind that may be helpful. How encouraging for you. I am sorry to hear of your struggles though. Janet
