artluvr09
I get dizzy sometimes and woozy when I stand up too quickly I also hear a whooshing sound in my ear sometimes when I stand up too quickly as well. I checked my blood pressure while I was at rest because I was curious and it was 98/60 and another time it was 92/61 or something like that so it was 98/60 something while I was sitting I stood up quick to see if it goes low, and instead it went high it went tto 111/75 it was strange. anyone else have this happen? MomtoGiuliana
My bp sometimes goes up and sometimes goes down on standing. Changeable/widely varying bp can be part of the dysautonomia. But also keep in mind that even healthy people experience bp changes affected by activity, emotion, etc.
Guest Alex
This is not an uncommon finding, even in those without dysautonomia. It takes a couple of seconds for the blood to be redistributed through your body when you go from supine to standing, so if you do that too fast your brain may be deprived of oxygen for a couple of seconds thus the dizziness/presyncope feeling. The whooshing sound you hear is actually your blood flowing. When it comes to the BP fluctuations you've mentioned - your BP is constantly changing throughout the day. There are many factors that contribute to it and the numbers you have mentioned will most likely be regarded as "normal" by most medical professionals. I actually would encourage you to discuss your concerns with your doctor.Fwiw, one of the first things my docs have mentioned to me shortly after I was diagnosed was to always get up slowly and to avoid sudden changes in body position (like jumping out of bed in the morning) in order to allow my body to adjust to the changes. On a personal note - the best decision I made after being diagnosed was to stop checking my vitals. It took me a while to realize that I shouldn't let some numbers dictate the way I feel and the way I spend my day. If you are trying some new meds though and your dr suggests you keep your eyes on your BP though, that's another issue, but still...they are just numbers; the more important aspect is the way you feel.I hope this helps.Alex
