All day I have been feeling weird. Just out of it like a zombie, tired, weak and my heart isn't racing like it does a lot and I have trouble thinking I have to think before I speak. my mom went to check her blood pressure because she had a headache and she has hypertension and then I went to check mine and my blood pressure was 104/70 and my pulse was 71 and I've just been feeling so out of it and thirsty too. also does anyone else have trouble focusing ins tores especially when they have tons of high shelves? I get so lgithheaded when I have to look at tons and tons of shelves and the lighting bothers me ins tores too. Today we went to ollies to get a carpet and I fetl so lightheasded there was so much stuff it was hard to concentrate. when the air pressure outside is high does anyone else not feel well and what symptoms do you get? advice would be great. I feel so weird and it scares me. Thanks!!

A bp lower than 90/60 (either #) is considered to be low blood pressure, I believe. 104/70 sounds healthy. However, many of us can have good bp readings and still feel quite lousy. I know I can.

Yes, I think many of us find shopping can be disorienting/cause worse symptoms--eg the lights, smells, etc. can be a trigger.

I think "weird" can be a good way to describe how POTS can feel. I know especially when I was first diagnosed, it all felt weird--over time I have probably gotten used to a lot of it, and it doesn't feel as strange.

Does increasing fluids help you? Over time hopefully you can find things you can do to improve your symptoms. I have not read all of your posts, but if you have been diagnosed and are under the care of a specialist, there are different medicines you can try that may help improve your symptoms.

My son has POTS and I take his blood pressure several times through out the day. Our cardiologist wants his blood pressure to be at least 110/70. His blood pressure has been running much lower than this the last few weeks. He is 13 and has had more trouble staying focused on school work. My son currently has a ear infection, which has made everything else worse. A virus or an infection can mess with blood pressure readings. Could you be dealing with a virus of some sort?

Shopping is very difficult for me, especially if I have o reach high and low on the shelves. Yes, pressure changes really effect me. For me a A BP of 104/70 would be telling me my next BP reading will be even lower. I was told , for me, when it is that low, to continue on with life but don't decide to expend a ton of energy at that time ( exercise, going or a walk, run errands etc..) as it will continue to decline.

My pre-POTS normal BP was about that and I mostly felt ok. I was always told by medical proffesionals that low is better than high, and how it means a healthy heart and such. I don't know now. Nowdays my blood pressure (standing) runs usually 92-98/55 and sometimes I feel ok, even with it being that low, sometimes I am dizzy and can't function. I try to raise it to over a 100 with florinef, water, salt and midodrine.

I know the feeling you are talking about in stores. I have it, too and can't shop for more than 20 minutes at the time or I get lightheaded and can't focus at all. Especially large stores. I was told by my doctor that this happens because the nervous system gets overstimulated (lighting, smells) and blood pressure drops. I take midodrine before my trips to the store, but that only partially helps. I make shopping lists to make my time in the store as short as possible and shop only on my good days. I found some smaller stores that don't bother me that much. When I have to visit 2 or 3 stores in one outing, and I know which one bothers me the most I leave that one to be the last one and make it quick there. I also shop on the internet for many things now.

To me, this sounds like a good reading, but everyone is different. Is this lower than your normal blood pressure? If it is, and you're feeling more symptomatic, perhaps you should consult your doctor.

Way back before I knew I had POTS and thought I had CFS, I mentioned to a doctor I noticed my blood pressure readings seems on the low side. They'd tend to be 96-105/60-70. She said the blood pressure a person feels best at can vary from person to person, so if it isn't clinically low, doctors tend to just go off of symptoms. If the patient isn't showing symptoms of low blood pressure (dizziness/weakness), doctors tend to not treat it even if it is on the low side because while one person may feel awful at 95/60, another person may feel wonderful.

100-110/60-70 is my normal BP and I have no symptoms (it's the higher numbers that give me a hard time). I actually went as low as 8x/5x and was still OK. I'd venture to say that the numbers themselves are only a part of the story for most of us, and the most important thing is how you feel when your numbers are in that range.

No issues with stores, and I am slightly meteo-sensitive (always have been, so it's not a POTS thing for me) but the weather doesn't really make my symptoms significantly worse.

Are you on any meds that can help you address these issues? Have your doctors ever suggested any preventative measures like extra fluids, extra salt, physical countermeasures, compression garments etc? See more about what might help here

The number is in the range of normal. What is your baseline BP? You can feel awful with POTS even when your BP and HR are "normal".

I had to "practice" going into stores after getting POTS. I would walk in, stay for 5 mins and leave. Same with restaurants, movies, etc. It took a while getting used to all the stimulation. It is upsetting and scary and makes you want to stay home. But glad I didn't. I eventually got used to it and these symptoms went away for me after a year or so even though other symptoms lingered. and hope they will for you too.

As everyone has said, anything above 90/60 is considered 'normal'. Mine was 90/60 before POTS and I felt fine, but now it goes as low as 70/50, and I feel horrible, and also very high. It drives me crazy. Is the 104/70 when you are sitting or standing? For many of us, it dips when you stand. Also things are very individual, so what feels okay to one person doesn't to another.

As far as stores, I find them exhausting and dizzy making. I can't handle being in a store for long, especially if I were to look at shelves. A lot of us have those problems I've seen.
