Guest Hanice
When something touches me (even if I'm looking right at it) that part of my body that it just touched will jump. My muscles tense up my toung is tingling my hands are cold its like its constantly prepared for a disaster. I will be sitting calmly abd then my leg will jump as if something bit it or like it got shocked. Is this your case too? Or does this NOT happen to you. I would like to hear it from both sides.Oh and when I see something falling my fingers/hands tingle. You?
Becia
I've had that happen when I'm trying to sleep. I shake or jolt awake because the feeling is so strong.
Tobiano
This happens to me too. I seem to startle very easily.
Kooky
Sometimes I get to a point where I feel as though I am asleep and awake at the same time. It's hard to explain but when this happens sounds seem to be off in the distance somewhere and everything seems to be moving slower than it usually would. During those times I find that I jump and can be easily startled by touch or noise above the background sounds around me.Like Becia I also tend to jolt awake a lot when I'm trying to get to sleep and also when I am actually sleeping. Hope
Yes, my neurologist says my body overreacts to stress. I startle very easy. Somebody can just walk into the room I am in and I will jump. When our weather alert machine goes off I go through the roof, and I get the shooting tingles in my arms and legs. And like you say, even little things touching me can make me jump. It's very annoying. It's like my nervous system is just worn out.
lejones1
I get this too! It's so weird. When I'm feeling good it's not really a problem, but on bad days I startle so easily - sound, touch, whatever. If I'm crashing really badly I don't like to be touched at all because even if I know it's happening, my body is still startled - it's like it just does its own thing, independently of my mind. IceLizard
Yeah, I do this when asleep, too. Something will make a noise and I will yelp and bolt upright in bed. Apparently it can happen many times a night and I have no memory of it in the morning. Freaked out several of my old roomates this way. Freaked
Yep, hypereflexia. Common in anxiety and those of us with adrenaline issues.
