Inversion Table

Wondering if anyone has tried this, first off ,..I have only in the last 6-7 months been diagnosed with an illness I believe I have been suffering with for over a decade(Irish "Healthcare" system),basically I first began having symptoms of hand tremors, dizziness, palpitations and severe chest pains after working out,at the time i was training in the gym 2-3 hours every evening as well as working nights and going to college during the day,as the years progressed the few times I raised this issue with my doctor he told me I was fine,as the years progressed I began to experience what seemed like severe panic attacks(palpitations/sweating/fast breathing/tremors) however these episodes would never be accompanied by any feeling of anxiety or any emotional component, also i continued to have stabbing chest pains,..by this point I had given up on going to the doctor and just accepted it as something to be put up with ,

..as time went on and my work schedule got busier after college, these chest pains/tremor/palpitations disappeared,...I never knew why,but at the time I had stopped lifting weights because of not having enough time and also i had several back injuries,..a year later I began training again and surprise surprise the symptoms came back, all this culminating 3 years ago when I collapsed at home while lifting weights,It seemed I had suddenly lost the ability to breathe properly, and was hospitalized 12 times over the next few months doctors were baffled,I lost nearly two stone of muscle, could not finish a sentence with out taking a deep breathe and nearly passing out and my blood pressure/heart rate were all over the chart.eventually I was diagnosed as having "idiopathic hypotension" -unexplained low blood pressure

,......Of all the doctors/specialists I have seen there is only one treatment that has ever helped,-physiotherapy,It is the only thing that has given me any quality of life, because of this and my history with weight training and back injuries I believe of all my symptoms to be a common source, some form of cervical neck injury,I also developed tinnitus for the first time in my life during this illness which I feel could also have its root in cervical trauma.even though i have had MRI of this area i believe that not all spinal trauma is visible without dynamic MRI(not available in Ireland),and to that end I have decided to experiment with certain treatments myself and observe the results,I have all ready had interesting blood pressure readings from using a cervical neck collar will soon purchase an inversion table to see what effects this will have,my theory is that by alleviating the pressure on my spine I may be able to reduce/effect my symptoms in a measurable way...anyone tried this??(sorry to be so long winded but this is my first post)

Let us know how it goes. My husband has an inversion table for his back but with my messed up body I am afraid to try it. I have had my spine actually sore to the touch many times and have wondered about a spinal connection.

I have considered it but haven't purchased yet. Read somewhere that the fascia tissue response will set in if inversion is more than 12 (?) or maybe it was 20 degrees. That would suggest the need for a table that can be locked into place at selected angles. Does anyone know of reliable non- sports store source? My insurance might pay for part of it if it came from a medical supplier, but I can't find any in Ohio that carry inversion tables. I would purchase from online but am leary about that.

BTW my osteopath wrote an RX for one in support of my inquiry to help heal a herniated cervical disc.

As far as I know there are several brands on amazon, most of the ones in the 150-300$ range have are lockable at preset angle and will go not further until reset.

My plan is to start 5 mins every morning and evening at the lowest angle and gradually increase by 5 degrees every few days if I do not suffer any severe reactions, ill be taking my BP readings several time per day and can post it all here if anyone wants to see it.

i have a ruptured disc, L5S1. i low back always hurts. i have nerve disc compression... the dr. wants to do injections, and i don not. you would think they would give me meds or something. i wish they knew what i went through, maybe then, they would help.

  • 6 months later...

Last year - I bought an inversion table to act kind of like my own home tilt table test. I would lay flat for 10 minutes – then my wife would tilt me up (head up) and my heart rate would go up. I know it was not the real deal but I just wanted to see my heart rate go up without moving. Actually - lying flat or leaning back towards your head reduces your heart rate dramatically. The more inclined you are upside down – the less your heart beats…. At least that was the case for me. I found relief from tachycardia by just tilting back a little on it.
