bebe127
I thought I'd read somewhere that they can test for MCAS with a 24 hour urine test because the tryptase (sp?) serum sometimes doesn't get results if you are not in an episode. Is this what you are referring to?
Guest Alex
several things depending though on what you're trying to rule outI am familiar with the following 3:- your sodium and potassium levels (low sodium can be an indication of your blood volume - circumstantial, yet many drs rely on this)- metanephrines (to check out for a pheochromocytoma)- your protein levels (usually as a follow up dipstick test showing large amounts of protein in your urine, to evaluate your kidney function)To the best of my knowledge the metanephrines have to be checked separately - there has to be a special 24 h collection for those as the container used for collection not only has to be refrigerated at all times, but it also has to contain a certain amount of hydrochloric acid.Alex
