Gerrik1
I have been having more and more trouble when I dream that when I wake-up I can't figure out if it was a dream I had or if it's a memory that I am having. At times I feel like I am going crazy with this. I was just in the hospital and was telling my MD about it and she just looked at me like I was nutts. So do any of you suffer from this? I thought I would give it a try out there and see if it's a Dysautonomia/POTS thing.
Katybug
Yes I have that happen. I have lots of sleep issues and I am diagnosed with severe daytime hypersomnia. I also have lots of trouble falling asleep at a decent hour at night (even if I take no naps during the day) and I can not take any prescription sleep meds because they give me night terrors. We just had a thread going about weird sleep issues on this forum and another on an EDS forum I belong to and an extraordinary number of us are dx'ed with hypersomnia or narcolepsy. Before being on these forums, I didn't actually know anyone who had narcolepsy, so it definitely seems strange to me that I am finding so many with either dysautonomia or ED Sthat have either one or the other. jknh9
Yes! Often it takes me a moment to figure it out, but my dreams are, and always have been, incredibly vivid, and my memories of them are often just as strong as "real" memories. It's often hard to shake the emotion I was feeling in the dream once I wake up, too. I don't take any sleep medication but I am on Zoloft and Wellbutrin (fairly low doses of each). Gerrik1
It is so good to know I am not the only one out there like this. I need to share this with my MD. Thanks ladies.
Alex's mumma
Antidepressants (SSRI's) can cause very vivid dreams and nightmares/ night terrors.
rach73
Hi,Yes I have very vivid dreams that when I wake up I dont know if it was a memory or a dream. In one dream I was in the royal navy and I had abseiled from a helicopter. I did want to join the navy when young but never did. I have never been in a helicopter and I am beyond terrified on heights. Yet it took me several hours to sort this out in my head!In another dream I didnt go to university and didnt have a Levels, the dream upset me. On waking I had to ask my husband if I had a levels and if I had been to university the answer to bothe questions was yes and I have a degree in history. The dream had wiped my memory of it. It took until I actually found the certificate of my degree to believe my husband.I hate it when I dream like this it makes me insecure and vulnerable, like how can I believe anything anymore. The confusion they create can last hours!Im not on anti depressants. I do take morphine day and night.Im so glad you raised this topicRach
E Soskis
Dreams and Memories often mesh together at night. The mind reaches back to certain key memories then weaves the dream around what you felt and how you responded in the memory. Dreams are often a form of communication - taking strong memories that mean a certain something special to you and you alone, and putting it in a movie-like format - often seemingly "crazy" and odd story line on the surface. If you take the "story" and break it down, you will find that there is meaning and purpose as it relates to your life. If you have never kept a dream journal, I would encourage you to do so. You may find familiar "themes" and patterns to your dreams that actually expose some area of your life for which you have been seeking answers and solutions. The answers to your questions may be coming in the form of a particular type of dream.
Dizzysillyak
On a lighter note .. I put on about 10 lbs in my belly in the last two months and dreamed I was pregnantlast night. Lol ... My subconscious is telling me it's time to lose the fat. I have a problem with this when I'm taking too many sleep meds or supplements. It's one of my body'sclues that I need to lower my dose. I used to do this tho when I was eating gluten, etc. Gluten really messes with my head. Tc .. D
