Hi everybody:) I hate the ups and downs with the weather and I'm seriously considering moving to California before summer ends...I have been there before I became ill and loved it so I'm excited!!!!!!!!!! Can anyone recommend areas( orange county) for nice affordable family living and local specialist?

Thanks

I have a 24 year old daughter who has POTS and we live in Northern California. There is a POTS specialist now at Stanford (Dr. Safwan Jaradeh) (and apparently now they have their own autonomic clinic). Also, Stanford has a mast cell specialist (Dr. Gotlib), etc. in case other specialties are needed.

As far as affordable housing in California, good luck! You could look online for areas that might be affordable to you. We love the San Francisco Bay Area but it does tend to be expensive.

I'm from Minnesota/Wisconsin area and can sympathize.

I live in the Western Washington area and love it. It's so beautiful and we don't get a ton of snow in the winter. Our summers aren't excruciatingly hot, either.

I've considered moving to California - San Diego is perfect weather-wise but the cost of living is so high - especially with their income tax. Washington has no income tax.

I'm always saying I want to move somewhere more even. I think the most consistent places and the least barometric pressure changes is in Hawaii but that's no cheaper than CA. I'd love CA if it was affordable. New Zealand and Aruba are pretty even as well.

There some other places in AZ and FL that are more consistent but its hot all year.

Hmmm, I re-looked at our questions. I have cousins in Orange County, he talks about looking at houses in murietta, ca? He says its cheaper in the CA realm.

jpdj49, I didn't know there was anyone at Stanford, that's interesting news. (I'm Northern California from a small town and NO ONE has heard of POTS, it seems!) I was first diagnosed (with poor man's tilt test) by a cardiac specialist at Stanford, but then wasn't sure where to turn for all of the testing, etc. So I ended up going to Mayo Clinic in AZ, which I felt was super informative, helpful, etc., but Stanford would definitely be closer! How does you daughter like Dr. Safwan Jaradeh?

lissy, I wish I could make some suggestions for you. California is wonderful and I've lived here all my life, but it does seem to be expensive compared to the midwest (one of my friends is originally from Indiana, and what you can buy houses there for is SO cheap compared to over here!) I live in a small town, so living, housing, etc. is not too bad (not like the Bay Area anyway), but the problem here is not having a huge economy. Most people in my town either work at our one hospital, the casino, or our one WalMart lol. Unless you are in a good industry niche (my husband and I own a construction / pest control company), it can be hard to make decent wages here. We actually have a lot of people who work and live in the Bay Area who own a "cabin" up here and commute--probably not too good for POTsies though?

Hey all thanks for the responses :) After all the researching California is way toooo expensive and unemployment rates seem out of this world, not a good place for a lower income family...SO my next place to search is Birmingham Al, husband has family there and been reading about the Specialist there:P so maybe south I'll b going. This searching for new locations have been very stressful!!!! And by time its over I could probably win a round on Jeopardy about US States hahaha..

Anyone in AL please contact me I have some questions (kinda personal)

Have a great night all:)
