Akgirl
Hello, I have been having really bad constant headaches lately I was hoping to not get on another medication as I am already on atenolol, florinef, celexa, and omeprazole. So I have been taking over the counter meds ie. tylonal and Ibupropion even some aspirin to try to ward it off. Every morning I wake up with a headache and every night I go to bed with one. I am trying to stay positive about my pots and I am starting aqua therapy and have been eating healthy, but living with a constant headache is dragging me down!! I am wondering what medication your doctor has prescribed to fellow headache suffers?? I have a upcoming apt. And I would love to have some names of medication that has worked!! Guest Alex
regular otc tylenol worked for my headaches, but I had to take one every 4 hrs or so as my headaches were a 24/7 thing.turns out they were caused by my florinef intake - once I lowered that my headaches became a thing of the past.best of my knowledge the combination of florinef with nsaids (like ibuprofen, advil, aleve etc) should be avoided - so you might want to check the otc headache pills you're taking with your dr/pharmacist- unless you've already done this. You can also check meds interactions on www.drugs.comhope this helps,Alex

Katybug
What kind of medication will depends a lot on what type of headache you are having. Have you figured that out yet? It can be a bit confusing to determine and may take a headache specialist to help you figure it out.
SaraC628
I am on Florinef and it gives me pretty severe headaches sometimes. You really should not be mixing NSAIDs with FlOrinef, unless your doctor gave the ok. I looked it up before because both can be hard on your stomach. I usually try an ice pack for a little bit and sometimes Tylenol helps.
trice125
I also have severe tension headaches on an almost daily basis and would love any suggestions you get on this post.
Chaos
If you are tending to have migraines, then taking the OTC meds (tylenol, advil, excedrin etc) may be contributing to the problem, according to several different neurologists I've talked to. They all seemed to agree that the short half-life of those type of medications seems to trigger rebound headaches in people who are prone to migraines. Just a thought. When I quit taking those types of meds, it did reduce my headaches somewhat. For my bad migraines now I take Relpax although I finally had to give in and start low dose topirimate as a daily med. After 3 years of way too many headaches, it's been nice to finally get some relief with it. I know it doesn't work for everyone but it has been ok for me. I started at a much lower dose than what a "normal" person would get though.Florinef was not a med I could tolerate, due to headaches either. lejones1
Trice, I get tension headaches often as well although they're not always severe. Akgirl's sound like something different...tension headaches usually only come on later in the day.I try to avoid strong medication unless really necessary since I've become very sensitive. I may take ibuprofen as soon as I feel one coming and sometimes it will ward it off. Laying down completely flat also helps me - mine are only really bad on days where I'm sitting/standing most of the day. The two most helpful things I've found are a heated neck pillow (http://www.amazon.com/Microwaveable-Filled-Pillow-Relaxation-Bag/dp/B00016WOS4) and rubbing pressure points in my neck. I use this - http://www.amazon.com/Still-Point-Inducer-Original-Congestion/dp/B000P9BTCY/ref=pd_sbs_hpc_4 - but a tennis ball will work just as well. Lie on the floor and try to do it for 10-15 minutes. This will probably only work if your headaches really are tension headaches, but I've found it to be so so helpful.Good look to both of you in dealing with your headaches! FarmerAmy
This is sort of goofy, but I have a head massager like this one on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Head-Massager-colors-may-vary/dp/B001IHXFQK It is very relaxing to use.I have also learned diaphragmatic breathing recently. This has been amazingly effective with my headaches! I normally have a constant headache (sometimes severe) and the breathing has made it so I actually do not have headaches at times. It feels amazing!Amy
diamondcut
Its strange but for me going to sleep as upright as i can helps me to wake up with out the instant pain, i have been wearing a soft collar at night too which has helped. I believe its due to two reasons that this has helped.1, sitting upright helps drainage of the CSF fluid and keepS the CSF channels more open for the fluid to move more freely. They believe EDS people have poor drainage issues too. (if its pressure type headaches you think you are experiencing)2, Sitting upright as close to a 45 angle degree as possible does not allow the blood to pool in the mid drift area, so i was told by my Dr and should help your POTS aswell as headaches. My Tachy iin the morning is far less when i sleep upright.

Gerrik1
I also suffer from migraines and daily headaches and see a headache specialist. After tring many different daily prevenative medications to help the migraines we finnally settled on Zonagrane, it is a seisure medication but helps with migraines. It has cut my migraines from almost daily to about 1-2 per week. And then I have as needed medications also for when I get a headche or migraine.
