Angelaintexas
There are 2 forms of pots. The common 'POTS, and Hyperadrenic POTS. The regular POTS is referred to the basic POTS that youll find out if google and research it. Mainly a low blood pressure. Hyperadrenic POTS is a lot less common and with hyper pots you have the increase in blood pressure and a few other different things. POTS is a syndrome under a larger umbrella of dysautonomia's, or autonomic disfunctions. For example I have hyperadrenic POTS, neurocardiogenic syncope, cronic fatigue sundrome. -all of those are types of dysautonomia, but only hyperadrenic POTS is a form of pots. Better?? -and welcome, a lot of people on here have good advice and numerous things have helped improved their quality of life and some are very knowledgable. ) Good luck to you. Chaos
http://forums.dinet.org/index.php?/topic/22408-a-good-vandy-paper/I Hate Bananas posted this link the other day on a thread titled A good Vandy paper. It's a good summary of the various types of POTS as they define it.If you research Julian Stewart's work you'll find he describes POTS as low flow/normal flow and high flow categories. Part of the problem with having a POTS diagnosis is that at this point the "type" of POTS you get diagnosed with depends upon where you go to get diagnosed. There hasn't been a lot of consensus yet amongst the various specialists as to nomenclature and subsets to define the actual disorders. Because there are so many variations of symptoms and reactions to treatments etc just amongst those of us here on the forum you can see that this is not an easy, clear cut issue they are trying to address here. They really only began studying these issues in the past 15-20 years so it's not a well studied or understood area at all.http://www.dinet.org/research.htmThis is the link the DINET web page research link. It has a lot of good articles you might want to pull up for more info on a lot of these questions. Unfortunately it's a little behind as the most recent articles are from 2010, but it's still a great source of information.
misstraci
My understanding is hyperpots is high blood pressure and the other more common pots gives you low blood pressure. I know there are other differences but i'm not sure of them.
