lukgar1
Hey everyone,I was just recently diagnosed with POTS in December 2012 after being sick since the end of 2010. I have found my tolerance for drugs to be hit or miss and I really would prefer to explore natural avenues. I was wondering if anyone has benefited from alternative medicine or a combination of the two? I thought physical therapy might be helpful, any thoughts? I've been mostly in bed for 7 months now and I'd really like to start somewhere. Thanks everyone and hope you are all well.
Guest wishing&hoping
Hi,I am working with an integrative doctor now as well an allopathic doctor. They can definitely help identify underlying problems that allopathic doctors don't necessarily look for (infections, nutritional deficits, adrenal problems, eg). I get Meyer's cocktails IV (vitamins and minerals) because of problems I have with malabsorption. They can also give you small doses of herbs (eg licorice, etc.) that may be more tolerable than drugs. I, too, have terrible difficulty with drug tolerance. I definitely recommend PT, but make sure you see someone who knows a bit about POTS so that it d/n make you worse. Craniosacral therapy is especially helpful, I find. It all depends on which systems you're struggling with.Good luck!!
westernmass
In addition to my primary care, I see an acupuncturist. The acupuncture itself helps me, as do the herbs she gives me.
