Katybug
So, I generally don't freak out about new symptoms (since I've been developing new symptoms for 5 years now ). BUT, this one has me a bit worried. About 3 weeks ago I had a really bad migraine (not unusual) but the amount of swelling and drooping in the right side of my face (which I normally have to some degree with my migraines) was more severe than usual so I took a couple of pictures to show my neuro when I see him next. He has seen previous pics of this. But the most disturbing part when I reviewed the pictures was that my eyes were not tracking evenly with each other!! In order to get decent light, I must have had the camera off to the side a bit, and my eyes were not tracked to that side by the same amount. I have never had a lazy eye or been cross-eyed (sorry if those aren't PC terms but I don't know what is). I have taken a bizillion pics of my face for this swelling and for rashes and have never seen this before (and I went back and looked at older photos.) I have had increasing nystagmus (eye micromovements from side to side) which my neuro has poo-pooed at my last 2 visits because I can't make my eyes perform involuntary movements on command. So tonight I was taking a pic for my immunologist so he can see the new rash I've been getting on my face, and sure enough, the eyes aren't tracking evenly again. It is freaking me out because I suspect it is neurological. So all that to ask, have any of you developed this as an adult?? If so, can you tell me what you know about it, please? Thanks. Dizzysillyak
HI Katy,Sorry to hear you're dealing with this. I did this in response to a muscle relaxer (Skelaxin I think) I was taking. I even saw an eye specialist who was supposed to be up on neuro connections and he didn't suggest it might be my meds. What a waste ...I only figured it out because a freind of mine pointed out when I had it and when I didn't. And it was only there on the days I took that med.I don't know how common my reaction to this med is tho. Hope you figure out what's causing yours. tc ... d
Katybug
Thanks dizzy. I think it might be related to my Depakote as one of s the known side effects is nystagmus but my worry is what happens if I come off the Depakote to figure it out since its controlling not just my migraine headaches but also my abdominal migraines. And the eyes not tracking doesn't seem to be related to nystagmus in any of the research I've done. I hate these mysterious symptoms. HopeSprings
My first thought was frenzle goggles! I had a test a while back at a dizziness clinic where they used these goggles which magnified my eyes really huge on a screen (very funny looking) and some testing was done at the same time. This test picked up nystagmus that you wouldn't be able to see just looking at me. I think this is it or something similar - it talks about eye tracking. http://www.dizziness-and-balance.com/practice/tracking_test.htm
CarrieJessica
I actually just went through something similar and wrote about it here ~~> http://justmildlymedicated.blogspot.com/2012/12/retraining-my-eyes-mfbf-monocular.htmlMy diagnosis officially is Spasm of Accomidation. It may not be the same thing but as you said, as an adult with no prior issues of shaking or doubble vision this just kicked in on day. roxie
My eyes didnt align properly and I had to do vision therapy as a teenager. I still do the exercises daily. This sounds more than simple tracking though. Maybe you should find a good optometrist, my SIL was having eye problems at night and a twitch. She went to one a few weeks ago and the found nyastygmus and an astigmatism. They have her glasses and she has to see a nuero (maybe the for the nyastygmus?). But I hope you can find some help.
