Guest Hugues SC
I have had worsening stomach issues which probably could fit with what's called Gerd. After meals I get stomach distention, it takes way too long for food to pass down the stomach, and it makes my NMH so much worse, I get really dizzy after eating, need to lie down, etc...I try to eat frequent small meals instead of a few big ones, it helps a little bitAnyone has tips on what makes this better ? or what to avoid ?Any meds to help with that, or others to avoid? I would really like to know this since I am trying to find meds that help with other issues and would not want to get on one that makes Gerd even worse..Thanks !! diamondcut
Initially before my Pots was dx, my problems where all GI. I have tried nearly every med designed to help digestion with problems like you describe. Domperidone, Metaclopramide made me worse sadly, anti nausea drugs would make me throw up! Ordansatron and cyclizine etc! I was put on Mestinon becuase it can help pots symptoms by vasoconstriction and it speeds up your motility so you may want to think about trying that possibly. In the end grating ginger root and sodium Bicarb helps me the most, and i have tried everything when it come to GI meds!!!Oh i did go on Resolor (uk name) and that really helped with bloating for a while. puppylove
Zantac helps with that burning feel sometimes. And sometimes apple cider vinegar mixed with honey and water will help. It's really hit or miss. :/
Relax86
I took a small amount of a probiotic at night, tried to add yogurt to my diet which I never liked on a good day, I also used Prilosec approx 20 mins before a meal. For whatever reason ginger ale seemed to help after a meal and yes, very small portions. I avoided red sauce, gravy, chocolate, soy sauce as they seemed to be big triggers for me and my reflux/pain. I just seemed to eat the same foods daily that did work. For me rice and chicken; hard boiled egg whites (of course everything salty - which bugged my stomach but I needed it). Good luck Hughes. Guest Hugues SC
thanks for the tipsI also get complete opposite reactions to medications sometimes, domperidone and metaclopramide are the two that I read of and thought of trying, but maybe I'll just try adjusting my diet, etc ..I feel like I go from Not enough to Too much stomach acid, in the same day, it's tough to know what to do :/Tracy, you sound as if most of the GI problems you had have improved, is it all better now with cortef ? if so it's great ! i feel better and worse when i am on it :S

Gerrik1
My prilosec once a day in the early am about 5 or 6am before I start my day. at least 1/2 hour - 1 hour before Bkf. Has really helped with my GERD and acid production.
Tuesday
My doctor has me on prescription strength Prevacid, which seems to help a lot. I was on Prilosec (Omeprazole) before, but if you are also taking Flornief, there is a drug interaction that could be dangerous, so check with your doctor. misstraci
I'm not sure about the meds because I don't currently take any but I think diet has a whole lot to do with it. You may already eat fairly healthy so, then I have no suggestions but if you don't, then I'd focus on food first. I get super bloated and burp a whole lot. It worsens with specific foods, what you would guess, such as fried, fatty, sugary, stuff like that. I know that acidic foods such as tomatoes make acid reflux worse.
