i have a very dry mouth and esofagus these days and i have problems with swallowing.Does anyone know if there is another way of taking magnesium citrate tablets?(like dissolving them in water)Yesterday i almost choked while swallowing one and i am afraid of trying it again-especially today that my saliva glands are not working properly and my mouth is really dry.I can't contact my doctor cause she's out of town and i dont know what to do.any ideas? :(

Try taking it with food, in a teaspoon of applesauce, pudding, yogurt, ice cream, etc. then follow with water. That's what I do with my pts that have a hard time swallowing all their pills. It seems to help:)

Elena,

Not sure if you want to try mg citrate in a different form, but I have taken it in a powdered from. It is called Natural Calm and you put a teaspoon or two in water (warm is nice as it makes a bit of a soothing drink) and sip it. Two teaspoons contain 350 mg of Magnesium Citrate. I don't get it with calcium or any flavoring. Most health food stores have it and you can try it out in the individual packet size before committing to a large canister type of container.

It didn't bother me and many vitamins do. I no longer take it as I don't think it had any real benefit.

There is also a liquid Magnesium by Nutricology but it is magnesium chloride not citrate.

Thanks for the tip LMG.I think i'll go to a healthstore in the morning to buy the powdered form.

Kor1212 I never had problems swallowing pills even as a child. At the moment i can't swallow anything that is not creamy or liquid so i don't think that taking the tablet with yogurt would help because it would still be hard to go down.(what a strange new symptom!)Thank you for the reply though.
