Then his replacement, who was also outstanding, moved out of state. Anyone have a great neuro who treats patients with dysautonomia with lots of serious complications - Any recommendations would be most helpful. I live near Great America (Gurnee, IL) and can easily get transportation in a range that includes Milwaukee down to Chicago - although I'd prefer to avoid Chicago because it is so difficult to get drivers willing to drive into Chicago.Thanks -C Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I googled Dr. Chelimsky and called the phone number listed at http://mediswww.cwru.edu/dept/neurology/chelimsky.html and got a voice mail for Thomas Chelimsky, so it appears that he is now the Chairman of Neurology at the Medical College of Wisconsin (Froedtert). Shall call back on Monday. Thanks so much for the reference. I hope he is accepting new patients. If anyone else has any other MD in the area that they like, please let me know. You may need an outside referral to see him, from someone outside of the department. If you are looking to head into Chicago Dr B set up shop at Rush. lillybits Posted September 17, 2012 Report Share Posted September 17, 2012 chelimski is awesome I live in wisconsin and go downt to milwaukee to see him. or really you see him your first visit then after that you see his np mary who is also great their nurse stacey is very helpful and treats everyone with respect. they always answer your calls or atleast return your calls. you do need a referral from your current neuro or treating doc. he will get you going in all the directions that you need. some of the testing will be redone but they understand the low blood volume issue and space appointments and blood work nicely. plus you dont have to come back to that hospital to get your bloodwork done all the time either. they will hand you the orders to get done on a day that works best for you and just ask to get the results faxed to them. I asked on the phone to be transferred to his care, so we'll see what happens with that - it sounds like a long, red tape, process. Needless to say my "treatment" so far has been a mess - put on a drug that's on the don't use with POTS list. The only other options I've explored have been salt tablets and exercise. I have seen little to no change from any of it. When asking about other suggested meds, I was punted over the fence back to my migraine neuro. It is really frustrating that most specialists don't treat both migraine AND dysautonomia, as there seems to be a huge crossover segment that has both and many of the medications also work on both.I want my TTT redone, as the finger blood pressure cuff broke before I could be tilted. Plus, at the time I'm not sure I was off supplements long enough to really allow my body to fully show all the symptoms I normally have. My sweat test and my QSART were both abnormal, though, so I definitely wasn't passed by any means. The QSARTs were especially wild.I'd be happy to see an NP for all it matters. I just want to explore all reasonable avenues and try what others do to see if anything can help. Out of curiosity, what other testing have they run for you? I've just had the autonomic tests, some bloodwork, an EMG, and a glucose tolerance test. I would think there has to be something else that can be checked if my symptoms are this bad. They did my son's TTT, Thermoregulartory sweat test, MRI, and because of GI issues an endoscopy, colonoscopy, capsule endoscopy, antroduodenal(sp) test, gastric emtpying test and I know I'm missing some. They were very thorough. She (Dr Gisela) is the most caring doctor we have seen to date.Our local neurologist used to work in Cleveland with them and has called them for advise on treating my son. Then she called and said she was moving more towards pain management and recommend I see Dr Chelimsky and he was specializing in Automonic Disorders. Unfortunately before I got the chance to make an appointment, (or rather fortunate) I took a new job and moved to Orlando. Seeing I'm one of the few that tolerate heat better than cold, Dr Peltier thought the move would benefit me. Except for the freaking air conditioning I'm doing fairly well and looking for a neurologist in the Orlando area. So if anyone has any recommendations for down here I'd be grateful since I'm due for a tune up. I have only seen him once but I was really happy with him. At that point I was happy with anyone that believed me (lol) and wanted to help. Anyways he is an option to consider. lillybits Posted September 19, 2012 Report Share Posted September 19, 2012 I had most of my testing done at mayo in rochester and it was a whirl wind of test after tests and they didnt take me off of any of my meds before testing.. so i dont know what all they are going to retest. so far its just been blood and urine. i see my gi doc, autonomis dr at frodert and genetics at childrens right across the street.
