potsgirl Posted January 27, 2012 Report Posted January 27, 2012 Hello Everyone,I saw a segment on the Today Show yesterday where they discussed new studies that were finding that people who are left-handed tend to get certain diseases (diabetes, heart problems, etc) more than those who are right-handed. The population in the US is approximately 10% left-handed. I think it would be interesting to see how many of us are lefties. I'm one of them, although I do certain things (eat, throw a ball, bat) right-handed.Thanks!Jana Quote
Christy_D Posted January 27, 2012 Report Posted January 27, 2012 My son is also left handed, as is my daughter who we believe to have mild POTS. While both my husband and I are right handed. Quote
sue1234 Posted January 27, 2012 Report Posted January 27, 2012 Right-handed. Can't do a thing left-handed. Quote
MomtoGiuliana Posted January 27, 2012 Report Posted January 27, 2012 There was a poll on this at least once in the past...I am left-handed. Quote
bellgirl Posted January 27, 2012 Report Posted January 27, 2012 I'm right handed, but dizzy dancing, I'm a lefty Quote
MomtoGiuliana Posted January 27, 2012 Report Posted January 27, 2012 Here is the poll we did in 2004 here.http://forums.dinet....howtopic=189Out of 121 votes, 17% were left-handed. This is higher than average in the population. Average is 7% according to what I researched at the time. However not sure this difference is statistically significant. Quote
Lemons2lemonade Posted January 27, 2012 Report Posted January 27, 2012 I am right handed, but right before i got sick i was playing frisbee golf a lot with my left hand. Quote
potsgirl Posted January 27, 2012 Author Report Posted January 27, 2012 Katherine,Thanks for finding the stats from the last poll in 2004. I know I should have done a poll - I may still do one to see where the numbers are now, especially since this new theory has come about. Quote
Katybug Posted January 28, 2012 Report Posted January 28, 2012 Left handed for writing and ambidexterous for most other things. Quote
