Lilly, no. Have you talked to your doc about this? Are they bruises?

Yes, I got these when my most dramatic symptoms first began. They seemed to pop up all at once and all over and never went away. I showed a few Dr's at the time who thought nothing of it. The last Dr. I showed was a dermatologist and she said they're just cherry hemangiomas and very common. She insisted they must have been there all along and I just didn't notice. I don't think so! Not sure what they are or what their significance is.

I got them early on also. Doctors also weren't concerned. I think the timing of them was significant.

I also have them (the little raised red dots), and yes, they are cherry hemangiomas. But I find it interesting that so many of us have them. They are benign, but I just read that there is a significant increase in the number of masts cells in people that have them. Now broken blood vessels could be lillybits leukemia, too, or if you are having significant bruising, like lemons said, maybe you should see your doctor. The cheesy mouth could be a fungal infection; were you recently on some antibiotics for an infection? or maybe your immune system is compromised? I've actually have had fungus on my lips now for about two years. First I tried vaginal yeast cream on them, but now I am using tea tree oil. It is more irritating, than anything else. (burns, itches, goes away, and then comes back! Does anyone else have trouble with yeast or fungal infections? Told this to 3 doctors now, and they just listen to me...that's it <_<

Kimbelgirl -

I am really interested in this. My mother pointed out the red dots on me the same summer that my symptoms appeared. I had them before that but they seemed to proliferate that summer. Where did you read about the connection to mast cells? I'd be really interested in knowing more about this. Most doctors have said they are nothing and some said they were age spots. I identified them myself as cherry hemangiomas or perhaps adenomas.

I will bring this up to him when I see him next. I mentioned at mayo but they were more conserned with everything else..I do take injections to build up my plateletts and hemoglobin dt leukiemia. so far it is keeping everything in check as far as that part goes till i get sick like a cold or something. I collapse too much to know if i bruise easily. sometimes i have bruised where i dont remember falling but my memory isnt what is used to be either. thank you everyone! have you been checked for thrush kimberlygirl? I know most of us catch everything in a 50 mile radious so a lot of the time it is hard to tell...

In most cases it may not be dangerous, but everyone is different. This could be a side effect of meds too. Definitely talk to your dr

I am currently being treating for a very similar sounding rash, raised itchy red bumps, but small, about the size of the tip of a pen, or slightly larger. My doctor said she suspected foliculitis, which is a type of staph infection of the skin. So we are treating it with a 10 day course of Ceftin, (YUCK!) and we'll see where we are at once I am done with the antibiotics. About 2-3 months ago I also seemed to develop a nail fungus in my left big toe, which completely grosses me out. So we starting a long course of oral Lamisil for that, but she will be carefully monitoring my liver enzymes, as she said Lamisil can cause elevation in liver enzymes and I have had issues with that in the past. But I also get celiac rashes, and I saw a cymbalta commercial recently that warned some patients experience rashes! So I am not sure what the real culprit is. I had no idea this was so common though.

As for purple veins and red veins, I am starting to get a ton of spider veins all over my legs, which I was kind of chalking up to age. (I am 36) But my doctor told me that they are most certainly NOT normal for my age, and that after my surgery this week we would be taking a much closer look at that. It's always something!

Sandy

The cherry hemangiomas we are all talking about are not infectious, just annoying, but anytime you are on antibiotics you are more prone to getting yeast or fungal infections. I would be very careful taking oral antifungals, I did this once for ringworm, because it was lingering, because, as you mentioned they can be liver toxic, and we only have one liver, and a lot of us are on many medications to begin with. My bilirubin was elevated when I was on Zocor, and then I had the weak muscle reaction on that, too, (couldn't walk to the bathroom one night), so I took myself off that med, and try to keep my cholesterol down in other ways, like diet and exercise. Thrush, lillybits, is usually inside the mouth and on the tongue, this isn't even white like thrush; it is red, bumpy, and burns, itches, if I let it go out of control, so I just keep applying tea tree oil, and it keeps it at bay. It also has an odor to it, too.

Sounds like Lilybits is describing telengiectasias & petechiae

I get petechia around my eyes if I exercise too hard and my face, torso & legs also have telangiectasias on them. My dermo has zapped the ones on my face with a little laser.

Weird.

I also have sudden onset petechia, cherry hemangiomas, and various other little red and brown dots and the small red spider veins. I know for a fact these just came on in the last 6 months as I have been getting more and more sick.....it was actually my hubby who noticed them as I have always had incredibly clear skin.....even my specialist noticed....thats how many have popped up.....and now I being tested for mast cell issues

There are alot of people even without dysautonomia that have telangiectasias, as they get older. I have some on my face, and legs, too. I sometimes get petechia, as well, and this worries me, because my mom has Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia, and I am related!! ;) So far, though, my blood work has come back normal...
