eva.gonzalez Posted October 20, 2011 Report Posted October 20, 2011 Ok, so every once in a while right after i eat, I would get really nauseous or other times I would actually throw up.But..now, every time I feel "full" I throw up. So I've been trying to only eat a certain amount so that i don't feel "full" but when I do, I feel extremely fatigued. The only way I can describe it is..it is similar to the same feeling i get when I've only had enough alcohol to make me extremely sleepy. So it's either feel really, really, sleepy, or eat until I'm full...but throw up usually immediately afterwards :/ This has been going on now for a month and a half!Does anyone else experience this? And if so, what do you do to make it stop, or help it not to happen so often. I haven't been able to go through a single meal without this problem, and I'm beyond annoyed about it. Quote
janiedelite Posted October 20, 2011 Report Posted October 20, 2011 perhaps you have a motility issue like gastroparesis? Quote
caroline Posted October 20, 2011 Report Posted October 20, 2011 Dumping syndrome is another possible motility issue that could produce vomiting. Quote
Alyssa Posted October 20, 2011 Report Posted October 20, 2011 I had this exact problem last year. I ended up in the hospital for 2 weeks because I severely dehydrated and lost 20lbs. I couldn't even eat ice without vomiting afterwards. They ran test after test after test and never found the cause. This eat and then get sick thing went on for over a year. Once your stomach gets used to doing it (for example, bulimia, or even a stomach virus) it can become routine for the stomach.Assuming that yours is like what I had, I ended up having to fast for 2 days and then I would get 2 or 3 days of relief - Do this only under supervision of your doctor!!Do you have any allergies to metals? As it turns out, I'm allergic to nickel. I get severe rashes from belt buckles, bracelets, necklaces, etc. You wouldn't believe how many foods are high in nickel. I ended up going on a low nickel diet and it seemed to have solved the problem. Every now and then if I'm not careful with what I eat, the problem will return.Hope that was of some help! Quote
Katybug Posted October 20, 2011 Report Posted October 20, 2011 I go through cycles when this happens to me. It is definitely linked to my other dysautonomia symptoms. I choose the sleepiness over the vomiting as having to lay down and rest for 2-4 hours seems like a better and healthier option than the vomiting. I have had full GI testing and they found GERD, mild gastritis, and a small hiatal hernia (basically nothing that explains the extreme vomiting). I also have diarrhea and severe abdominal pain during the cycles. They have given my promethazine (pheregran) for the vomiting to take as needed and belladonna for the diarrhea/abdominal pain also as needed. I try to only use the meds (as they can be addictive) only when it gets severe so I can "break the cycle". Hope you feel better soon. Quote
ashleighheath Posted October 21, 2011 Report Posted October 21, 2011 May I suggest trying Kombucha? (a fermented tea drink available at Whole Foods and other such natural-food stores) This seems helps me immensely w/ my nausea (as well as general hydration issues) and is rich w/ probiotics (which helps w/ digestive issues). I particularly like the Gingerade and Multi-Green flavors when I'm feeling puny. It is especially helpful before a meal and sometimes can act as a mini-meal replacement/supplement. I, too, have GERD. And suspected Gastritis. (Just didn't want to pay the $ to go thru the separate diagnostic test.) I also like Zofran (available in generic) for severe nausea -- it's a tab that dissolves on the tongue. I hope you find some relief. Best wishes to you ~ Quote
sandymbme Posted October 21, 2011 Report Posted October 21, 2011 Have you been evaluated for Celiac disease? This can cause a whole host of symptoms, including vomiting. Plus there are a whole lot of us who have food sensitivities and/or allergies. If you have been tested for celiac, you may want to think about trying an elimination diet to see what, if any sensitivities you may have that are contributing to the problem.Sandy Quote
eva.gonzalez Posted October 22, 2011 Author Report Posted October 22, 2011 I have never been screened for Celiac, GERD,or gastritis, etc. And I don't think I'm allergic to nickel, but perhaps I am and don't even know it.I only have an electrophysiologist and now i feel like I'll need to see a gastroenterologist and endocrinologist to help me alleviate the symptoms I am experiencing.Thank you everyone!! I really, really, appreciate it! Quote
Lette Posted October 22, 2011 Report Posted October 22, 2011 I get this too, I can sometimes be perfectly fine then other times which can last for days on end i can vomit after eating or even trying to drink a mouth full of water!! Quote
